Yikes, sorry to hear about the nightmare, SD. I know my friend's family has a few properties and one family was just great until they moved out. Then they realized the family had given one of the bedrooms to two german shepherds, which had chewed holes in the drywall, ripped up the floor, pissed so much the baseboards and underlay was soaked, and the door had to be replaced. Sometimes you just never know until it's too late!

The property manager at our last place (before we built our first home) never once visited in the 10 months we were renting. She sent an email around halfway about organising an appointment for an inspection but I forgot about it, and apparently so did she.

Real estate agents hate rentals... I'm trying to figure out some issues with a place I want to lease but the agent is a flake, probably because it's so cheap (few thousand per annum) and his management percentage cut would be miniscule. I'm almost at the point where I'm going to contact the owner directly and tell them the agent is wasting my time, and blowing off owner income by stuffing around potential tenants. :2 cents:

Just saying...

true, if the kids arent abused, beaten, or given drugs, CPS is probably not the answer... A lot of horror stories there...

However, these stovetops can be extremely high maintenence. I clean mine on a regular basis and it is still black around the burners. You spill anything on it and it just melts to the stovetop. Gotta have a rag with you at all times.

I try keeping it clean while I cook, but my lazy, sloppy, girlfriend has no respect for nice things.

I am going to guess your cook top is black around the burners from washing it with dish soap. Am I right?

You are half right, it is black around the burners cause if you have a boil over or a spill, or even something on the bottom of the pan. (from moving the pan from a counter or table onto stove without checking for debris)

Like I said... she is a lazy, sloppy cook. If I felt like cooking every meal, I would.

I cook, I treat the stovetop like gold and I throw out all my packaging and mess as I go. She cooks, she is all over the place and leaves garbage everywhere. (even for days if I don't spot it and throw it away, empty pasta boxes and such.

Truth is, once the top gets dirty and black around the burners, people don't care. Of course, it is not their stove why should they. My GF moves out, I have to deal with that shit. I find myself scrubbing it al the time.

I use this...

He can sue them for damages and lost rent. Worth doing if the guy had a good income.
