VICIOUS thugs who punched this man so hard he was left with HALF A HEAD have got off scot free.

Horrified Steve Gator had to have the front of his skull removed by stunned surgeons after his head was smashed against a pavement in the sickening attack.

And now the 26-year-old has been told that the teen attackers who disfigured him will escape justice after his case was dropped.

Steve, of Romford, Essex, was attacked after confronting one of the yobs who had been taunting him about his cousin.

Another of the violent louts hit him so hard that he was sent flying and struck his head on the path.

Steve plunged into a coma for two weeks as his shattered mum and distraught family kept a bedside vigil at Queen's Hospital, Romford.

His brain quickly began swelling and surgeons were forced to remove the front half of his skull just hours after he was admitted.

Grief-stricken mum Nina Gator was warned her son had just a terrifying 15 per cent chance of survival.

Two days later cops charged a pair of teenage boys with the savage attack which shocked the neighbourhood.

Steve, who has had to quit his job, was left seriously brain damaged and now suffers frequent seizures, has difficulty talking, and his memory is seriously impaired.

Mrs Gator, who is his main carer, last night blasted the shock move.

The 47-year-old said: "I can't believe it. Everyone is entitled to their day in court."

CPS lawyers claim they needed more proof before going ahead with the case.

But Mrs Gator stormed: "Our boy is walking around with half a head - what more evidence do they need?

"His sparkle is totally gone. He used to be so independent but he can't work any more and he can't drive."

She added: "He's got half a head and he's completely lost his confidence.

"There's absolutely nothing protecting his brain now it's just under his skin."

I think this is where the UK law fails..... if I damage someone like this I will be out in say 5 years. I f I kill someone I will probably be out in 7-10 years... the point is, I will be out and back in the pub.

I thinkl this is why so many people will commit crime because the punishment is not harsh enough or they know the system to get away with it.

So what can this guy do to get justice if the law does not protect him or put those who hurt him behind bars? If the law cannot protect you then you can only seek justice for yourself and do the same to them....... what else can you do?

to be fair they didnt leave him with half a head, the doctors did that part after. I would like to know a bit more detail. If there were no witnesses its pretty hard to have a case. This just sems like one of those street fights with a bad ending, like a bar fight where someone knocks there head on the pavement and dies.

They had to remove part of his skull. Maybe part of the brain, too?

Anyway...

If you remove part of the skull like that, you need to cover it up with a plate or something. Otherwise he could easily poke his brain by just scratching his head.
So why did they not implant something that matched the shape of a normal head?

I don't understand why they haven't covered it up. I know a few people that have had metal plates inserted into their face, skull etc. Maybe he has surgery planned in the future.

if they had to cut his skull away to relieve pressure from the swelling, they can't put a metal plate back their until the swelling has gone down. he's from the uk, so it would be a free operation and not a case of money. the article i read said he's going to be having the plate fitted soon.

They had to remove part of the skull because of swelling. Similar to what they did with John Graziano, the kid that was in the car Nick Hogan wrecked:

With serious head trauma like that the brain swells, there's hemmoraging, etc, if you don't do something drastic, like the above, the person will die. Eventually when they are postitive the swelling has subsided, as they have done with Graziano, they will put something in place to protect the brain and restore a more normal appearance.

Shit sucks though, I'd rather die than live a vegetable.

If someone did that to family member of mine and the justice system failed us you can be sure I'd kill every single one of the fucks responsible. I would wait a few years and take them out one by one. No joke, I believe I could kill in this situation and not fell any remorse.
