I agree with Robbie that people should be able to shoot and watch what they want, but I can also see the side of avoiding unnecessary risks. I've always operated under the concept that it's worth making a little less money so you don't have a bullseye on your back. Yeah, it sucks that there are niches that are big targets for law enforcement, but it is what it is. Every business operates within the confines of SOME rules or regulations, and if you push the boundary, sometimes you get the stick.
I can totally understand the sleeping niche being looked down upon because of the APPEARANCE of lack of consent. Of course it's fantasy, of course they're paid actors, there's no argument there. But mutual consent is a big thing in our society, so I can see people getting fired up about that niche. I guarantee the moment someone comes out with a "coma porn" site, you're REALLY going to see shit fly, even though the production of the content is no different than a sleep site.

I also don't understand those bashing the government about this, or the calls of censorship.

About a month ago, I flipped on "On Demand" and watched last house on the left. There was a BRUTAL simulated rape scene with a minor none the less. I sat there, sick to my stomach, and my gf actually cried. And this is available right on cable. Simulated rape is simulated rape be it in hollywood or elsewhere. Why does hollywood always get a free pass? And this was graphic.
But my personal view is that these sleep sites clearly do a good job of making it seem innocuous. I don't see how it should be a problem. Kind of silly. Especially being that they are obviously fake.
I think we should be more concerned with sleeper cells than sleep sites. imo.

What separates the simulated rape in a mainstream movie from simulated rape in porn is "prurient interest" -- the first is a movie that tells a story, the second is something meant to bring on a sexual response. It all comes down to obscenity laws, which VISA is (rightfully) trying to stay within. I'm no apologist for VISA, but they gotta keep their biz in line.

to be fair it was a remake of a much older movie and the entire story is based on the rape scene. it was also toned down a great deal from the original. the original was much more graphic and the only movie to come close would be i spit on your grave.
also should keep in mind for point of this discussion, the first time last house was released it was banned in the us and other places, then banned again in 84 after vcr's has been about and so had the film. look up video recordings act of 1984.
