How much weight and how fast?

If you're talking about within an hour or so....throw on a couple garbage bags, sweatshirts, jackets and go jogging for an hour or two...

Extremely low carb, like 30/day or less, tons of water and some exercise.

Hey Direktor!

I have lost 45 pounds since June .... and want to lose another 30-40 still

THe way I did it is quite simple .... I drink alot of water in a day (so I do not get hunger cravings) and I cut out all bread and sugar from my diet ...

You can eat as much of anything else as you want ... just no bread and sugar ...

and unplugging from the PC for a while and doing something to burn calories helps too ... go for a good walk, bike ride ... whatever

Good luck Bro !!

Part 1

Go buy a plastic workout suit. Find an office building with 5 stories of stairs. Do the stairs about 20 times per day. You'll be totally sweating by the end of session. Don't do this if you have a heart condition. The stairs are brutal. We used to do this in our High School Wrestling team.

Part 2

Eat everything you like, but cut your portions in half. You'll cut your caloric intake by 50% doing this. The problem with all the diets is people have a hard time giving up the things they love and crave. So just cut back and keep eating what you love.

I would like to try this http://www.trimspa.com cuz I hear it all over the radio.

I lost 25 pounds in a month and a half because I was going to Europe, this is what I ate:

Morning: banana, strawberry and orance juice mixed in with vanilla protien powder

Late morning: b/s/o juice and 2 bananas

Lunch: 1 pound of sliced honey bbq turkey from the deli and a big thing of steamed veggies

3'ish: b/s/o juice and bananas

Dinner: something healthy, usually lean turkey or chicken and veggies, no breads or pasta or carbs.

You'll fart uncontrollably, but the weight flew off very fast.

I did a lot of walking but no running, I don't have the stamina for running.

Also when you lose weight and get new clothes throw away your old fat clothes so you burn that bridge.

1) How'd you lose the first 30?

2) Things that work for me:

Eating only fresh (raw) fruit in the morning. Keeps blood sugar up, it stays even, you feel healthy, and get things done.

Stick to raw foods as much as you can. Don't eat raw meat. A huge salad is a refreshing lunch.

Balance your carb/protein intake. If I want to drop fat I'll boil a bag of those soybeans that are frozen in the pod and take that as a meal. You can get them at trader joes or any whole foods, wild oats, etc.

Eat over at other peoples' houses and see how they eat.

Actually read those books that rational people recommend as good and well reasoned (avoid fad books, no sense dying from bad advice).

I eat a multivitamin every day to help with whatever nutrients I miss. This seems to improve my mood as well, just like exercise; this also gives a better overall feeling of control.

Go for easy exercise and do it frequently rather than *hard*. It's sometimes difficult for men to remember that it's not about pain and struggle, but rather finesse.

I think you need to do an hour of cardio 6 days/week and do a low carb(not no carb) high protien, low calorie diet for 3 weeks, then go back to your normal routine.

I recently followed a health mags plan and lost 11.5 pds in 3 weeks.

Do an hour of cardio a day, 6 days a week (if you can't handle 6 days a week, at least do it 5 days a week) and join Weight Watchers (if you're too embarassed to go to a local center, you can just purchase the program online). I can practically guarantee you'll lose at least 2 pounds a week and maintain the weight loss with ease. Your current plan sounds totally torturous and most likely you'll gain all the weight back as soon as you revert to your normal eating habits.

Direktor...

go to a gym man. You'll feel better and even just 30 mins like 4 days a week will make a big diff.

diet can only take you so far in a short time...

i was doing the diet thing... watching it really careful and limiting myself to under 1000 calories per day... did it for 3 weeks, but didnt change my lifestyle (sit in fron of pc for 14 hours perday) and I think I lost 3 pounds...

Anyways, I found my old gym pass that I have had for 5 years and pay $15 a month for and actually have started to go. been going two weeks now. I changed my diet again, eating a little too much cuz I am always hungry (prolly in my head mostly) after workin out. But, I have lost another 2 pounds in two weeks.. I used to work out a bunch and was in much better shape a few years ago. Only thing I did back then was workout and play a little ball.. didnt care what I ate or drank.

Exercise is pretty powerful.

I am not a fat guy though, just needed to lose 15 pounds... now I need to lose 10 more...

More calories used than you take in, that's the only way it happens.

The less you weigh, the less your body needs to take in to maintain that weight, so you have to either eat less or use more calories than you did to start with.

Easy and fastest way to lose weight. I lost 30 pounds today!! Tommorow I will lose another 30!

Follow these simple steps.

1. Goto your local hardware store.

2. Grab a big saw, some work cloths.

3. Saw off you LEFT leg, you will need your right one to drive home.

4. *optional- purchase the saw since you used it, or you can be a cheap bastard like me and just stick it back.

5. Enjoy yourself 30 pounds lighter!

To lose another 30, you will need to do steps 1-4 again, or if you chose to purchase the saw, go ahead and do these steps at home. IF you didnot buy the saw, take a friend with you so they can drive you home.

I also hear that the Atkins thingy works pretty good for some people too

A lot of you are talking about cutting your carbs and sugars to lose the weight .. aka the atkins diet .. be VERY careful with this approach .. in fact, it's not recommended to follow this diet for more than one month.

A personal experience w/ the atkins diet .. my dad was on this diet for over 6 months and one day passed out @ breakfast .. was rushed to the emergency room and passed out 5 more times while @ the hospital .. he was transferred to the CCU and again passed out .. it turns out each time he was 'passing out', he in fact was flat lining .. the stress of the diet had shifted his electric impulses which regulate his heart beat and his body was shutting down/dying. As a result, he needed to have a permanent pacemaker implanted .. now understand, my dad was in good shape .. nonsmoker .. no clogged arteries .. nothing. The reason why he originally got on this diet was because he suffered from slightly high cholesterol .. and believe it or not, eating steaks, cheeses, tons of protein, etc. but NO carbs, as the atkin diet requires, had in fact lowered his cholesterol ..

In the end .. eating foods low in fat .. eating in moderation .. and exercising is the only safe way to loose weight ... there aren't any magic ways to loose weight fast .. especially without risking your health.

If your body is use to eating all kinds of sugar and junk, and then one day you cut it out of your diet completely, you can actually be doing more damage to yourself. It's a huge shock to the system. I've know a few people whos been hospitalized because of this.

Best thing to do is to tone down the intake slowly, as you develop better eating habits.

I work out four times a week and eat whatever i want cause i know i'll burn it off quickly. Obviously, good eating habits and working out is the best combination. But if your not a fan of working out, then make it a part of day.

For instance, don't look for the closet parking spot when going to the store. On certain weeks that i only make it to the gym 2-3 times and i go to the store, I make it point to park at the back end of the parking lot so i have to walk.

Little things like that add up quickly.
Burn more calories that you take in. Simple formula.

Thats usually what happens when you lose weight. You hit a plateau and stop losing. You have to change what you are eating a bit or do a little bit of exercise to get your metabolism going.

But your not eating enough! It could backfire on you and you might end up gaining all the weight back. Eat more. If you want to eat just protein then just increase the amounts more. Eat lean chicken, make omelettes with egg whites, protein shakes, etc. You can even go to the health food store and buy soy pasta. I have a recipe for high protein bread I found on the web that I used too.

I did something similiar a few years ago. But I ate as much protein as I wanted and a little more variety. I also worked out at the gym using a guys program. I ended up losing 60 lbs. in around 4 months. My entire body shaped shaped. It was amazing.

Get a membership to the gym. Muscle burns fat!

1. Balance your diet
2. Add exercise
3. Boost metabolism

Recommended equipment:
- Heart rate monitor
- Some fat burner (check body building magazines) to increase your metabolic rate

To do all those:
Morning
Eat fruits (as much as you want), 1 piece of whole weed bread (no more).
Light cardio exercise 2-3 times a week (between 60%-70% of your max heart rate), harder cardio max. 2 times a week (max. 85% of max heart rate peaks)

Snack
Fruits

Lunch
Your main carb loading. Pasta or similar with low fat sauce.

Afternoon
Fruits

Dinner (before 7pm)
Proteins, some lean meat with as much vegetables as you can eat

1-2 x week short exercise with weights.

Other notes:
- If you feel peckish during the day (or night), eat only fruits and vegetables.
- Drink a lot (up to 3 liters a day, don't overdo it)
- Eat multi vitamins especially B's.
- Cut down on alcohol, no white bread with anything except breakfast.
- Look at body fat percentage, not weight!
- ALLOW YOURSELF TO LAPSE every once in a while.

You can drop your body fat from 35% to 15% in 8 months or so if you do over 10 hours of cardio in a week.

Drink loads of vegetable juice - tastes good. Even do a juice fast for a day or two.

Join weight watchers - the group pressure helps, plus you really get to learn the cost of every type of food in terms of saturated fat and calories.

Cut down on foods high in saturated fat, and really sweet stuff.

Eat as much fruit and vegetables as you want.

Aerobic type exercises every day - walking, running, swimming, cycling. Get a heart rate monitor to stay in the zone.

Pace yourself. Don't try and lose too much too fast, or you will:
a) lose muscle mass,
b) put it all back on when you finish the diet.

The changes you make in your diet should be for life, so it has to be stuff you are happy with.

I may have missed it but has anyone mentioned limiting yourself to 3k calories a day plus plenty of whatever exercise? I know I can't coment totally because I have spent my life trying to gain weight but coming from a family that is always trying to drop weight I have seen the best results from the above.

3k a day calories balance between 3 meals a day with a light snack at first if needed plus one day in the evening of a fast walk or bike ride.

If you are really over weight the grabage bag clothes, sprint and sweat it off wont work because you just drop water weight. I know this because as a 5'9" 112 lb wrestler in highscool that is what I did to shed water weight fast as I had no fat. On top of a week of starving of course.

I've also heard that substituting a grape fruit for a major food group helps.

If you're really serious about losing weight try Herbal Life. My parents use it and it's great.
Give me a shout if you're interested and I'll hook you up

Wrong... Well maybe it depends on what branch you join. I am a USAF vet and before I joined in '91 I thought it would get me in better shape being in the service.

Before I joined I was in top shape. Four to five hours of tennis and cycling a day. Plus weight lifting 2 hours every other day. I joined the service and learned fast the only break you got was a smoke break. How I fell for that I don't know but 12 weeks in to being enlisted I started smoking. Four monthes or so in to being in the service I started drinking regularly.

Over all I spent 5 years in the USAF. Yes I know the standard enlistment is 4 years but I extended a year as after my second year I got offered a 3 year tour in Germany which I took. At the end of those 5 years I left a biological distaster via smoking and drinking. Sure a bulk of it was my fault. However the reason I brought this up is the military won't make you thin or healthy.

Not only that, but they won't take you if you are way over weight to start with.
