HOW DO I Run a wireless signal 150yds?

Id like to run my wireless aircard router signal 150yds so I can use it in a different building without taking the card/router with me - is there a way to do this? there is another building between the two but I really dont want to put the router there.

You'll need a hi-gain external antenna for that and have a direct line of sight (ie no buildings blocking the view). Do a google for 'high gain wifi antenna' and you should get plenty of options.

Yeah. All you need is line of sight.

A wireless extender or maybe some sort of stronger antenna on your wireless card?

I would honestly recommend running some cable... It'll be a much better connection speed in the end anyway and running a single cable is not that big of a deal :P

I think your best bet would be getting internet at your second location and creating a VPN between the two networks.

If this doesn't work, then I am honestly surprised that it won't pick it up. Try calling around to different carriers / ISP and see if they have an answer

run a cable. Easier and cheaper.

Or look into a point to point wireless link and have a wifi router at the other building also.

Okay if you HAVE to get through a building..
You need something a ways from the side of the building in the middle

I don't know if they still call them repeaters?
But you're going to make a triangle.
Either have something on top of the middle building at some height or to the side of it a good number of yards away

                                        USE DIRECTIONAL ANTENNAS

You could always setup an access point in the center building and the last building, stretching your network across all three buildings.

No need at all to run a cable. Buy a cheap yagi antenna (not the cheapest shit) with like 18db (line of sight and two similar antennas = good for like 1 mile or so) gain, put up a small antenna on the "other side" and you are good to go. You will get as high wifi speed as you normally get unless you are using "N" - G is ok though. Just watch out for the very bad quality "rubber duck" antennas on ebay. Also, if you buy a Linksys WRT-series (absolutely FANTASTIC router), you can pull up the sender effect with a few hundred percents.

Edit: a small correction. In this case you might be better off with an "omni" antenna which is transmitting in a circle pattern. However, 150 yards isnt very much.

What in the hell is a texas county mounted doing in..

Why in all hell would an omni be better for single point to single point?
I'd rather have my signal go only where it needs to go, and be stronger in that direction..

Set up access points in a few places to create a wifi "canopy"

You can even perform your own site survey for signal strength and know where to place your Access Points to maximize the signal. ....

The issue would be the site survey gear + knowledge to read the report.

Any decent layer1 cabling contractor buddy you have can bust this out no problem.
