you should be able to find a place via craigslist. i see many people lookin for short periods.

though if you do not find it morally wrong, you could just rent a place from someone on a month to month. move in and at the last day of the first month, give your 30 day notice.

phone around, it doesn't hurt to ask, alot of places, depending on the area, will rent without a longterm lease, they usually want first and last month rent paid up front though

You could also try looking for vacation rentals. They would probably give you a deal on a longer commitment as opposed to the typical weekly commitments they get.

Great ideas... thanks. For just 2 months prepaying would be fine... although from my experience when you prepay you don't always get the best service throughout the duration.

There's lots of cool options:

I've got a 3 month rental on the NH seacoast starting Oct. 1. During the peak season, these places rent to tourists for a few grand a week, but off season, you can get an amazing deal and still enjoy the beach and the stunning fall foliage.

If it's "off season" where you're heading, look for any hot tourist spots and see if you can strike a deal over a room. Most of these places advertise online.
