Not sure when it airs. I just finished watching the second episode. Beyond it being interesting seeing some people I know being interviewed, it is utter rubbish.
My favourite bit is where the guy talked to pensioners and getting them to express outrage that some of their pension funds invest in companies that have tenious links to porn. For example, Vodafone because some people watch porn on their phones and hence they make money. Old ladies getting ready to storm headquarters. Never mind that other pension funds are probably investing in arms companies. Give me a break.
I love the bit where they want people to pressure Google over porn terms on adwords.
A number of things anybody in the industry knows were not the full stories of issues.

considering AIDS has been in Africa before it was known as AIDS. I mean like over 50 years I'm not sure how porn is too blame. Not to mention it got started from Africa when it passed from apes to humans. So where is the porn connection? 90% of the people that bash porn have jerked off to porn themselves.Comment

He wasn't trying to blame porn for AIDS in africa he was claiming it may be part responsible for the spreading of aids as porn stars don't use condoms and when the African people see the porn they think it is cooler not too aswell.
I think the program brought up a lot of good points but yeah a few of the ideas were stretched. I don't think he was trying to change anything in anyway just theoretically asking. He admits on several occasions watching and enjoying porn himself so he is hardly against it.
The part with the pensioners was about trying to get more transparency about what the peoples money was used for as they could not find any records in relation to that. Especially in the case of the church investments who claim you would burn in hell for having sex (total overstatement I am aware they probably don't claim that before someone jumps in, they are against porn though) but it's ok to invest in companies with porn connections.
Anyway I thought it was interesting didn't learn much I didn't already know but it was good to get a few different perspectives of how the industry is doing and where it is going.

Did he come across as trying to present a 'porn is bad' type documentary?

He wasn't saying it caused AIDS to be brought to Africa. It was kind of an interesting point and I did appreciate how he got to the story. He was visiting a porn company in LA and they showed him letters they got from guys in Africa asking to be in their porn films. Then he went to Africa and tracked down one of the guys that wrote a letter.
Along the way, he spoke to people about how a lot of US type porn is making its way into being viewed in high quantities in some parts of Africa. Then, the men are seeing things like anal sex and going out and demanding their wives do it. They then tried to link that to rape cases and therefore spread of HIV/AIDS.
To be fair, the health people they talked to did downplay his concerns to some extent.Comment

Read his book that was out a couple years ago. He went back and revisited a lot of the people he featured in his shows and found out what happened to them in the years after.
Plus, I know I am a weird woman that has a thing for geeks but I have always thought Louis had sexy geek down really well.Comment

There are a few things I would have done different had I to do it all over again but the experience was quite pleasant. There were actually 3 of them and we spent the entire day with them shooting.
Tim Samuels seemed to be a genuine guy. They were very interested in the industry as a whole and asked some great questions for months. I spoke with and emailed with them most of last year and part of this year. They were curious about dirt but they remained objective the entire day.
Funny thing is they asked me what I thought of Francis Koenig - I told them all the way back then he was a pompous ass that was running some game. I just wasnt sure of what it was at the time but I was pretty certain that it was going on.
He really didnt have much to say on camera. I noticed his big baller office was a TV set [a small one] and one of his DVDs. You notice that they filmed most of his segment on the rooftop and even though he said the business had made him a millionaire many times over.... her certainly wouldnt say what companies AdultVest has invested in.
I guess we all know the answer to that now.
Actually youll find if you deal with the mainstream media frequently that they all arent looking for scandal during the sweeps week. I frequently talk to the guys at G4 and Wired and they do get it.
I think from my varied interests and such Ive become acquainted with a lot of press folks or media darlings. Hell you were around when I first started hanging out with Kevin Mitnick. If you ever have any use for some mainstream media help you know where to find me.

I sat through the first part.. and thought it was sensationalist rubbish.
If a terrorist used a mobile handset, or bought some nails for a bomb in a store with a credit card does that mean they support terrorism. Honestly.
The implied logic and connections in this programme are beyond belief.
