If you want good location on the strip with good value, look at Monte Carlo. Imperial Palace is a forsaken dump. If you want to be farther north on the strip, look at TI, though you can actually get decent deals (depending on your budget) at Wynn if you stay on the right day. But Monte Carlo will keep in the same region of the strip as Luxor with nice rooms, decent rates and no 3 mile walk to get from strip to room.
