    Why doesnt the WordPress pssword recovery work for me?

    This is lame... I think someone is playing a joke on me. My password doesnt work and the recovery tells me to check my email but I dont have any damn email. This is the newest version of WP. Any ideas?

    wait 15 minutes to make sure its not the mail that is stuck in a que somewhere. or someone hacked your WP and changed the email

      Thanks. If I was hacked and I ask my host to do a DB backup from a few days ago my old password will work, right?

            if the email is not being sent, then sendmail isnt setup on your servr correctly since it uses sendmail to send the email

              There's been exploits on WP over the past few days. People gaining access to thr admin. Maybe conected?

                there is a hard reset for the password, but I dont remember what it was. Check the wordpress forum for "hard password reset"

                  if you use the "Using the Emergency Password Reset Script"

                  MAKE SURE YOU change the password right after you log in

                    cant you go into sql php admin and change the name and password in the database?

                      Ya go into phpmyadmin and change it there. A lot of people's blogs I've setup don't get the original login info emails or any password recovery mails. Sendmail issues like fris said is most likely.

                          upload emergency.php to your site and it will let you change it, but delete it after you're finished

                            look up emergency.php for wordpress. upload it to your server and boom - done.

                              re-upload the /admin/ folder and then click the... forgot password link.

                                    Since you were all kind enough to help me I'll tell the truth. The problem was my dumb ass changed the password because I had a contractor tweak something and I didn't record the change...
