is it a 30/1.5 or 3.0/1.5? big difference...

either case would probably be worth it if you will get more work done. when im traveling i often put things aside to do when i get back because internet speed is slow.

It's fine for the house. Only bad thing is the upload speed is only like .5 meg..

I'm about to move my equipment elsewhere so I can get a faster net connection. The price is no different whether I'm connected via ADSL1+ or ADSL2+, but I can only get ADSL1 in my home office... of course leasing another premises is going to cost a bit more.

BTW, ADSL1 256/1500 is pretty easy to achieve, and 384/8160 is also likely... but don't expect 1000/30000 on ADSL2 unless you're sitting on the exchange techie's lap

i downgraded from the 10mbps/1mbps plan to the 5mbps/565k package which is the smallest they offer. i used to have the largest they offered. was curious if my workload would change if i switched and it did not at all. i always do my massive uploads while i sleep anyways so i really never noticed it and honestly i do not need download speed. to me it was always about the upstream, and when i had the 1mbps up it still was not fast enough to make me want to upload during the day. this way now i save over a hundred bucks a month.

This is pretty much it. I rarely stream anything except for XM/Sirius and troubleshooting; I don't need a hell of a lot of bandwidth, and I usually code remotely - not that that takes a fuckton of bandwidth. I could probably live on $20/mo DSL but I need to be more accessable than that.

Speed is very important to me, but I deal with a lot of videos... uploading and downloading. Me personally, I would absolutely do it, plus I can write it off.
