Talk to the freelancers along Pattaya beach. Girls from bars will ask for 2000 Baht, plus 500 to the bar as "release fee". Virtually none speaks any English. And watch out for pick pockets. Walking Street is full of them when it gets dark. BTW, are you 55+? As a 30 something I felt like I was screwing up age average among all those grandpas in Pattaya.Comment

Yea, heads are about to roll here for foreigners working in the sex trade. They are even putting an INTERPOL office in Pattaya to help track down wanted foreigners.
I've got a feeling a lot of pornographers, self included, may be making an exit soon. It's one thing to dodge the Thai police, and another to dodge the poorly trained new SWAT Team. But to dodge INTERPOL isn't going to happen. If you are on the list, enjoy your time while you can.

Oh man... I don't have a problem with Arabs OUTSIDE OF THAILAND, but the ones who come to Thailand and stay in th Red Light areas, I hate them with every fiber of by being. They are the rudest, arrogant, smelly, loud, abusive (they beat on the girls and sometimes rape them), cock suckers I've ever seen in my life. When I see them walking in the middle of the road (not sure why these dumb fucks walk IN the road), I always try to clip them with my car or bike. I've even put little cutters on my bike so when I clip them, it slashes them.
It's not just me, the Thais HATE them too. In fact, up until just a few years ago, there were signs in some restaurants and bars that would say things like, "NO ARAB TO SIT HERE." Sadly, they took those down, though if you hang around VC Hotel it's easy to catch a few Thais jump an Arab and beat them down. Cheap entertainment.
There is a certain kind of Arab who comes to Thailand, whore mongers and drinks in the face of their sacred religion. These assholes are the worst of the worst.Comment

Aim for their arms, they will give as you clip them and your bike doesn't take a hit and risk you falling down. You can also get rose stems (remove the rose) that still has all the thorns. Hold a few about a foot long or so, with a part of them without the thorns, where you hold them with your handle bar grips. The rest sticks out. As you drive by them and they are IN THE ROAD WALKING LIKE IDIOTS, the thorns will cut the shit out of their arms.
To be fair, I do that to people of all color who walk in the road, but I get satisfaction doing it to these Arabs.Comment

Walking Street has 10 times the ladyboys Soi 6 does, and old farts too, mixed with smelly Arabs, sweaty Indians, Chinese, Japanese, drunken Russians, HIV spreading Africans, aggressive foreign military, drugged up party boys, drunken soccer hooligans, patrolling Thai police, random bar shake downs and piss tests, fights, cocky Tourist Police, and god knows what else other creatures. Walking Street lost its appeal to me 4 or 5 years ago.Comment

3-4 days in Bangkok and then 3 weeks out near Ubon in a house I rented, know a guy that live there and after spending a couple of days there I were hooked and its great! Peace, quiet and everything is so relaxed. GOD I love it there, been stopped by BiB with no Motobike license a couple of times and they told me I should go get one, no fine.
People walking up to me in the street asking me where I am from, what do I think about the town and expressing a genuine interest in why I am there, its so different haven't experienced anyone trying any scams or anything and believe me keep my guard up.
Only down side is no girly bars but it a university town with plenty of schools and the house is on a street that connect a main road to a some sort of college so plenty of 18-20 year old girls going by on their motobikes in those lovely uniforms.
There is a 2 falang bars, a Tesco and a Big C so basically all I need and the weather its A LOT better than Denmark where it have been below freezing for more than month.
I agree with you Pattaya is a arm pit and I doubt I will ever go back or at least not for more than a couple of days. Its something that have to be experienced but I couldn't live there.Truth TellerComment

nice, i love Ubon. has anyone been to Rayong? i went there for a week with my girl and my cousin at the tail end of our last big trip. for how close the proximity is to bkk, it's a whole world away in every sense. stayed at the Bari Lamai, http://barilamai.com no tourists, great food, service, super chilled out, clean, and almost completely deserted beachfront. next chilled out trip, i'm definitely hitting that place up again.we'll miss you our friend. Not been there only been a couple of places outside Bangkok and Pattaya but in my limited experience the further you get away the greater the experience.
Never been down south but thats coming within the next year, if everything goes right I plan on renewing my lease for another year and then go south, north and everything in between as long as I avoid, BKK, Pattaya, Phuket and all the other places swamped by tourists.
Funny thing is when I stay in Thailand I save money despite the rent and utilities there since the cost of everyday living is 1/5th or less there for example:

cool. when going south, be sure to hit up ko lipe and ko bulon. paradise. it's a long trip, but well worth it. on your way, you should also consider hitting up railay. super easy to renew visa's from the southern tip of thailand too, just a quick boat over to langkawai, malasia, and you are good to go.we'll miss you our friend. funny you should mention ko samet lol. that's actually were we were heading to, got there, and could not find a single place to stay. searched the entire island (there were 5 of us). so we hooked up with this Canadian ex-pat who runs a pizza place there, and recommended Rayong, so after coming to ko samet, we turned around and went back all in one day lol.
anyway, it was kind of cool thing, as samet was freaking packed with people. and rayong was about as chilled as chilled can be. it was the end of months of travel, so all we really wanted was to relax and avoid the chaos.we'll miss you our friend. RIPComment

In that range most the places are good its cheaper in Pattaya than Bangkok.

Anything over 2K make sure they don't charge a joiner fee, anything less than 800 make sure its not to far out of the way.
I stayed for 2 months here: http://www.mosaikpattaya.com/ in a one bed deluxe and it were great.
