    Is the word "puta" mainstream in the USA?

    I was considering starting a latina site but using the word "puta" in the domain instead of "latina"...

    A lot of people are telling me that "puta" sounds weird and a lot of people won't know what it is. I guess living in a latin country I'm bias and I forget exactly what is common language and what is not.

    Thoughts?

      People in California, New Mexico and Florida will probably get it but I don't think you'll be attracting many members from, say, Alabama or Arkansas

              Good name for a whore house!
              Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff.                                   My opinion as given to ya on ICQ is go with the putas one.

                                  Neither one will garner much SE or type-ins, so that's a moot point.

                                  The putas one rolls off the tongue easier, is more brandable and may even attract "curious clicks" where people who don't know what a puta is click to find out.

                                              I would say most of the country knows what it is. The regions that don't are going to be the ones isolated from civilization. In states like Nebraska, not around the big cities - out in the smaller no name towns.
