Anybody know anything about a company called Melaleuca?

Or wahcareers.com ? I am staying with my sister at the moment. She just had a baby less than a week ago. She was looking or some at home work to do during her maternity leave. She was contacted on a new mom's website by somebody who works for/with the wahcareers.com site. Now, she is sitting here in a group web conference about how she can work from home. It has something to do with affiliate marketing but it appears to be fully about this company called Melaleuca. We are only about 20 minutes into listening to waht they are saying but it is setting off all sorts of Amway alarm bells for me.

Anybody heard of them or know anything about them?

    Uggg.....

Use this site as a reference point http://www.mlmwatch.org/

Certain people are cut out to be multi level marketers. Its not easy money and sometimes you have to dish out money. Friends start avoiding you....family starts avoiding...awkwardness ensues...

She is not gonna make any real money unless she is constantly bringing people under her and pushing product. I have seen to many people believe the hype and left in debt with product they bought to reach the next bonus level.

Don't get me wrong the product itself is great. The marketing is designed to only make a few people at the top extremely rich.

Most people won't listen or believe they are being scammed.

My favorite is "its better than owning your own company"......

      "You are your own boss"....

      "You make your own hours"....

Yeah, I have done this all day everyday for the past decade. So, it isn't like I can say to her that affiliate marketing doesn't work. It is just that something is not feeling right about this whole presentation. We are now over 30 minutes into it and they haven't yet explained how anybody gets paid.

All that apart, I am fairly impressed with the way they have drawn all these people into a web conference and are keeping them hooked while they give a pitch.

I love their products but its hard to be a rep since you have to consume at least a minimum amount each month yourself. The laundry detergent and cleaning items are awesome, and the Nicole Miller cosmetics are really great too, and if you have a family the products are good to use. Being single at the time, I couldn't spend 100 pts on products each month because their stuff lasts a while.

Is a point a dollar? She would have to buy $100 herself to even get paid?

The product is good but you are not gonna make money unless you work 24/7.

Most people get sucked in and get stuck with big credit card bills.

Sounds like a shark in calm waters to me. Maybe not, but newborn moms probably are not going to have the time to work all day and night.

Can she do a craft? Maybe start an ebay store? Or get a merchant account from her bank and a sister to slap together a templated store? hehe

Good luck and congrats on the new baby in the family!
