I think one of the frustrating, while almost humorous, was one who I had booked and paid a small retainer fee to, never showed up. When I contacted her a few days later, she said "oh, I thought you had given up waiting for me and left town by now" "no I'm still here".... of course no reply that she was going to actually be present for a shoot the next day or even an excuse other than 'I am a flake, didn't you know?. |

Most girls don't bother with an excuse and just don't show or call. Then you have the opposite a model thats soo determined to shoot, that she actually got a ride to the studio by her Grandfather:helpme (poor guy) 1 thing I'm getting from this business is storys :1orglaugh |
I had a girl "just start her period" every other day for a week through email.
I think the most annoying thing is getting a long winded email from a girl and sending back a response never to hear from them haha. |

In NYC I used to always hear ' I had a go see, sorry'. Mind you this was the day after the shoot was supposed to happen.

You see Steve. You are just out of touch.. Last night was " International Late Night Skate Boarding Night " It was the first ever.

GFY has been long overdue for a flaky model excuses thread :thumbsup
I do think it's plausible for a 24 year old girl to be skating at 8pm in the summer though. Also one thing about abrasions is that they may not show up until the next day, when they are fresh they don't really show up... so it could have happened earlier :2 cents: |

When I got back to my office I emailed her that I was "so sorry to hear about her injuries" and she emailed me back that she feels terrible and "really needed the money" so she'll let me know as soon as it's healed. So, it's 50/50 on whether it's the truth or not. I really don't care. I have my own little studio. If a girl doesn't show, it normally costs me 30 minutes of my time. And, I really expect about a 40% no-show rate so I just chalk it up to "cost of doing biz." I've heard lots of excuses. My best friend just went into labor, I have to get to the hospital. I just got asked to go on an overnight trip for my company. I lost my cell at the bar last night and didn't have your number to call you. My BF/Best Friend/Mom/Dad/Grandma got in a car accident. Not serious but I have to head to the hospital. My dad informed the family last night that he's gay and I'm just too freaked out to shoot right now. Hmmm, that's all I can think of for now. I try to block them out. :-) |

That was not a good day. well to add to those girls history. After interviewing them we left together, and they didn't even look before crossing a busy street, almost getting hit by a car. I cautioned them! Yep, you guessed it, a few months later one of them got hit by a car. Hospitalized with concussion etc, but fortunately healed back up. I think that speaks a little to their sophistication, not able to look before crossing a busy street :clown someone mentioned models not showing due to time of month. yes, but have you had to clean up a nice chair because one DID show up, and you found that out halfway through the shoot :eek7 now what to do with that footage :Oh crap there are a few times when I would have rather been given a lame excuse and a no show. would it be hijacking this thread if we added "worst shows" to the "no show excuses". well, too late. |
more worst shoots
and maybe someday, I'll be smart enough to remember to tell them to turn off th F'n CELL PHONE in their purse you didn't see, which is SURE to ring right in the middle of the shoot !
:angrysoap ah well, guess that's what happens when you have amateurs in front of, AND behind the camara :error |
