You have to be joking. They were nothing more than a couple of jumped up, agressive, egotistical arse holes who made a living by striking lucky on making a couple of reasonably good songs...nothing more...nothing less.
You have to wonder what really goes on in their head when a person bails a hugely good thing in the hopes they can get a second lightning strike. The number of people who have done this and you never hear of them again is so huge compared to the few who manage to comeback solo.

Oasis business is concerts, it has been a long time since anyboby cared about their new material.
You have to wonder why he quits when the tour was all but over and it had already been billed as the last ever ever.... apart from wanting to stir things up and ensure a reunion/comeback tour in the future
he should have left when people actually would of cared or when oasis had a top 10 hit, not 10 years later.
I love how some people just want to post a negative comment, even if it makes no sense. Why would Noel leave when the band was at it's peak of popularity? It was his band. Ten years later when he is rich, secure and happy is exactly the time for a band to break up. He was the more talented brother in the band anyway, playing guitar, writing the songs and sometimes singing. Maybe he'll take a break, do a solo album & tour or re-form Oasis at some point with or without his brother singing.

bands should go out at their peak, in my opinion. not fade away after albums of utter shit that totally ruin what the band once was, ie metallica. soundgarden did it right. they knew they did their best shit in the first few albums and called it quits instead of dragging it out and ruining the image. it would also be his best time to go solo.
you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..
Oasis are one of the biggest bands of all time that is a fact. If they had been an American band with the exact same songs none of you would argue otherwise.

they were only huge in england aside from a few years in the 90's. they just didn't have a large appeal to north america. nothing wrong with that but you compare them to even radiohead who had much more success in america than oasis ever did.

Whether you appeal to America does not make a band. Coldplay appeal to America, does that make them great? Its Noel and Liam that never appealed to America, if one of them had married a big hollywood a lister Oasis would have sold 100's of millions of records.

If they would of married some famous american celeb people would actually want to hear their music? doubtful. there are bands that are huge in canada, like the tragically hip. they will never appeal to the states or england or probably anywhere else but thats fine. it doesn't make them any less great to canadians. you need to give up on your mission/delusion that the beatles are a poor mans oasis though.
