My dvd player was disconnected and I didn't know
How bad are dvd sales and rentals? I have no idea how long it has been disconnected. A surround sound guy probably still uses it but I have no use for the thing.

I bought my folks a Roku. Their cell phones date back to the 90s, but now they don't even have to WAIT for Netflix.
I swore off TV again when it dawned on me I was paying $5/day for shit I had absolutely no interest in watching. The 42" behemoth in the living room is either on 'Music Choice' or 'Weather Channel', all at glorious 480i.

netflix has posted growth if i remember right and those red movie vending machines have been doing great or at least the ones around here.
the redbox ones still make me feel a little shitty when i think about them. when i was 18 some 20 or so years ago i thought about doing those as well as some drive through kiosk style ones. everyone laughed and teased me about it to the point where i let it break my spirit on doing it (never again) and my parents would not co-sign on the loan i needed to get it off the ground. |

I never rent movies anymore. I have cable so I pretty much have 4 or 5 movies available at all times and on demand if I need something newer. I never was a buyer of movies but I did go through a period where I bought tv shows. Just amazing how tech changes everything in what seems a short period of time.
