thing is super deep water fish so no i would not eat it. thing would be the consistancy of jelly i would imagine. does not look like they have muscle tissue at all. never came across that particular fish when i did animal/fish studies in college. some that were kind of simuliar though. thing would be like a air sack and thats why it also looks all fucked up. im sure in the water it would expand and fill itself out, think jelly fish. but ya i am not interested in trying fish flavored snot jelly.

monk fish do not look that damn ugly. ok they have a funky looking face. sort of a armored looking slightly slimy skinned flat fish with a big ol mouth. they at least do have good muscle tissue. they are also very damn tasty and yes like lobster if cooked the right way. just do yourself a major favor and have the fish guy filet it for you. you do not want to touch their skin or deal with it really. it may turn your stomach. if they do filet it for you and your not just going to make just fish, have them give you the body minus the skin and perhaps the head if your squimish. the body does make a good stock for fish stew.
