I know people who have stolen less than 5k of stuff,first time offenders and got at least a month in jail. In the UK you can only get 240 hours of community service. It is thought that over 240 means the crime is more serious than just community service, so the same sentence would have meant prison in the UK. I did 180 hours of community service. It should take about 8 months but I managed to do it in 2 months by working 7 days per week. 480 is a long time...I reckon she will still be doing it in 3 years time so my belief is that she has been taught a serious lesson in why you should not steal unless armed up to the bollocks with a mask on....Comment
