What do I think? He's just another brain washed right wing extremist. Soon as he starts blabbing about socialist and Nazi's you know he fit the typical Right wing funda"mental"ist profile.
Just because he served in the Military, doesn't make him right about anything he decides to yell about. In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.Comment

Too extreme. Even if he's not, he acts like a plant. There are a gagillion ways to debate an issue without screaming, throwing around baseless accusations (I'm so sure the Congressman has yet to "uphold his oath") and bringing Nazis into it. That's just rabble-rousing crap.Last edited by DonovanTrent; 08-22-2009, 04:57 PM.Donovan TrentComment

How is that racist? Where did I say anything about his race? Because I call him a right wing extremist/funda"mental"ist that is somehow racist?
Umm no, it's just calling a spade a spade pardon the pun.. All these hard core right wing wacko's hear all this BS about socialists and their newest craze "nazis" on the right wing talk shows.. Then they run around foaming at the mouth about it like rabid dogs..

Nancy Pelosi is the one that brought Nazis up as she said the angry mobs at the town hall meetings who are against healthcare were carrying swastikas. They were not and she has tried to deny saying it but it is on video.

He sure as hell didn't look disabled to me. He's probably just disabled enough to collect some kind of disability benefit. He probably stormed out because he was missing his free doctor's visit at the VA hospital. Luckily, he didn't have to go too far because he probably has a handicap placard for his fat ass, which is probably why he has moobs to begin with. He's against socialism though and we must remember that! Every man for themselves.

But this guy, all he did was shout a bunch without saying anything or adding anything of substance to the debate. At least he didn't bring up any bullshit like "death panels" and "no eye care until you're blind" and "killing grandma" etc. etc. etc. Though maybe he did, it was kind of hard to tell with the shouting.Donovan TrentComment

so his bitch is about talking to his kids or whatever? why is that wrong now since wasnt it the right's demi-god ronald reagan who started the dare program. same one that was trying to have kids turn their parents in to the government.
i also assume he has private insurance right. otherwise would he not have va which would be controlled by the government anyways and if that is the case then yes they could tell him shit. odds are he is receiving benefits from several govenment programs, though those are all ok. just the idea of medicare for everyone as an option is to extreme and do not even go near insurance companies rights to deny coverage for pre existing conditions.Comment

This is someone who already gets government healthcare. its too funny and the whole nazi bullshit is a right wing talking a point. its sad they are getting these people to go against their own best interests. If the right really feels this one then they should push for a bill to get rid of medicare and social security. fuck its even got the word social in it. lolComment

Here is the problem when people start bringing up Nazis in any conversation. It instantly brands you as an extremist and someone who can't be reasoned with. It is that way on either side of the fence.
When Bush was in office the left called him a Nazi. Now that Obama is the right is calling him a Nazi.
As soon as someone calls someone a Nazi many people tune out because they know it doesn't matter what they say to that person it won't change their mind.
Here is my question about all the people who are suddenly wanting to protect the country and wanting government out of their lives. Where have they been for the last 8 years? Bush signed the patriot act which allows for wireless wiretapping and spying on citizens. He created an entire new branch of government with the Dept. of Homeland Security. He gave billions to big business who used it to move jobs out of this country. He got us involved in a war that cost billions, if not trillions and now we are learning that we knew before hand that he had a pretty good idea that there were no WMDs before the invasion ever took place. And through it all these people never said a word.
Why are they all of a sudden so pissed off?Comment

Everyone can pretend to know the sentiment of Americans right now but it is just guesswork because of all the bullshit and lies government and the media is feeding us. Way too much spin and bias ON BOTH SIDES.
The next election cycle will tell us exactly what people are thinking. I for one think a lot of seats will be changing hands. The arrogance in Washington is at an absolute all time high. Those fuckers don't act or speak like they are working for us. Their egos are way out of control.
If you still think, vote or speak along party lines you are a fucking moron.Comment

i am sick of the election talk. everyone is always campaigning because of it and nothing ever gets done because everyone gets worried about getting elected again. it should be obvious the majority of these people at the town halls are plants. really shows when they use the same talking points down to the same verbiage. then to make matters worse it works and people get worried about the election and they start to lower what they are trying to do.
matters are even more fucked up due to the fact that the majority of voters are under educated, do no research, and the assorted news outlets all just cover the spin and arguments. rarely do you ever see anyone giving out any simple real information. most political talk about issues instead are left or right attack ads instead and they just repeat more jabs or counter the other sides jabs again avoiding the real laws.Comment

I'm a former US Marine, and I would never dream of speaking to a police officer this way, no less a Congressman.
Something doesn't sit well with me after watching. This man claims he is a "disabled veteran". Doesn't this mean that he already has free fucking medical benefits for the rest of his life?
The really funny part about all of this is that we really don't have a choice where we get medical care. If you think about it, our employer chooses who we get. If we are lucky, our employer might have a few options for us. But at the end of the day, we don't get to choose jack shit with benefits.Herschel Savage

You're twisting my words but you're right healthcare is a real problem and an issue that needs to be dealt with. It doesn't mean that we all need to agree that Obama's approach is right and we all need to support him. A high majority of people in this country are employed and have healthcare. So my statement wasn't talking about the feelings of whether healthcare is broke, it is. I was talking about how people felt about the way their elected officials are going about this whole thing. Personally I hope Democrats do jam it through with no Republican support then we will see in the next election where voters stand on this issue for real.
I still want to know why the politicians and other assorted government workers will be exempt from the new healthcare 'rules' as the bills being put forth stand right now...Comment

Exactly. And the so wonderful private insurance plans often determine for you what choices you have on doctors, either actively by giving you a list, or even passively if only certain doctors will accept that insurance plan. The really funny part about all of this is that we really don't have a choice where we get medical care. If you think about it, our employer chooses who we get. If we are lucky, our employer might have a few options for us. But at the end of the day, we don't get to choose jack shit with benefits.
And one thing that really REALLY pisses me off about the misinformation being actively spread around is this "death panel" thing. As someone who's had to deal with close relatives who were in bad shape toward the end, end-of-life counseling is a VERY GOOD thing. It gives the patient information about what options they have, based on their particular situation. It does NOT decide anything for you, it does NOT dictate anything for you.
Unless I'm mistaken, the plan was to allow doctors to bill for end-of-life counseling for a patient once every 5 years. This would've been a VERY GOOD THING and now it's being scuttled thanks to Palin and her hare-brained cockamamie "death panel" bullshit.
Thanks, Sarah, let's hope your parents don't ever need end-of-life counseling.Last edited by DonovanTrent; 08-22-2009, 09:00 PM.Donovan TrentComment

This is exactlly it.. Soon as they start talking about socialist and "Nazi's I just tune them out, because it's clear they are going to be like talking to a brick wall and probably about as smart as one.
I also want to know where all these hard core Republicans were, whom talk about protecting their country the last 8 years when Bush was in Office. It seems they were very conveniently absent at protesting everything Bush did to take away their rights. Yet they pop up out of the wood work like files on shit soon as it's a Democrat in power.Last edited by crockett; 08-22-2009, 09:22 PM.In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.Comment

I never thought about this really. So, I don't have a choice which company I get my benefits through, I have limited options as what choices I have with my coverage, and on top of all of this.... I have to choose doctors from a list that my insurance company gave me.
Sounds like the government is already running health care!Herschel Savage

Even if you don't like the health care plan on the table, you should believe something needs to change. We pay double what most countries do and live shorter lives. Somewhere along the lines we have to sit down and say "we aren't getting good value here".
The problem is that this country needs smart people to sit down and figure it out. Find a plan that works for the country. There are lots of ideas. But we have dolts like this who are just mad the black guy got elected and are now going to shit on whatever idea he has to make up for it.Comment

I too served in the US Marine Corps and I signed a contract with the government; that contract provided my health care while I was active and if I got injured or disabled. The Marine Corps, bless them, pulled my wisdom teeth in boot camp. The military also provided me a life insurance policy (I think it was $200,000 back then) in case I were to die. Should the federal government pay families of every American citizen $200,000 when they die? Should we now have universal life insurance because the military gets life insurance policies?
Comparing this Marine and whatever VA benefits he might receive from combat related injuries to a debate about universal health care coverage is beyond stupid.Comment

I see where you're coming from, but on the other hand, many people on the right are trying to make it out that ANY government-supplied healthcare is Socialism. They neglect to consider instances like you're talking about, as well as Medicaid and Medicare. They're being reactionary based on their political beliefs, rather than on a thought out position that considers alternatives.I too served in the US Marine Corps and I signed a contract with the government; that contract provided my health care while I was active and if I got injured or disabled. For the record. The guy in that video was called on randomly out of 3000 people. He wasn't expecting to be called on which is why he might seem nervous and unprepared obviously.
Now for all of you people crying that this is about Obama, blah, blah. Here's a little something for you.
"Not too long ago, hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets with signs comparing our president to Adolf Hitler, painting him as “the world’s biggest terrorist,” even calling outright for his killing. Here in New York City, posters of a cartoon George W. Bush replete with simulated bullet holes began springing up around town.
It was a time when Democratic politicians complained loudly whenever they felt their patriotism was being impugned. In those days, bumper stickers reminded us that “Dissent is the Highest Form of Patriotism” and Nancy Pelosi, the top Democrat in the House of Representatives, declared that disruptive protests were “very American and very important.” Now that protests are directed against a Democratic president and a Democratic Congress, Nancy Pelosi thinks such disruptions are “un-American.”
During the Bush era, the media looked the other way at the extremist element in the protest movement; the large number of protest signs bearing swastikas and mathematical formulae like “Bush=Hitler” just didn’t interest them. But it did interest me, and because the media didn’t want to report it, I did some reporting of my own. The videos I posted online inadvertently launched me on a second career as a documentary filmmaker.
I recently dug through my old footage and found many examples of the same kind of inflammatory speech that the media and the Democratic Party—forgive the redundancy—now decry. What follows are just a few examples."

Actually depending on the country you pay as little as double or even around 50 times what other countries pay.
We have pretty decent healthcare here and we pay around 1/8th of what you pay and thats if we take private insurance and top notch care. Your system is broken.IW
