No it isn't. I have friends that are veggies. They eat a lot of pasta's, rice, bread and fish. Interesting that killing an animal for meat is cruel but eating fish is ok. A fish was once a living breathing creature. Just because you do not eat meat does not mean you are going to be thin. :thumbsup

I have a real problem with Peta's tactics of conveying their message. Throwing paint and eggs and whatever at people who wear fur? I don't personally agree with fur but really, that's just plain ridiculous.

I see no problem with what they are trying to promote-vegetarianism and prevention of animal cruelty- but I find their methods obnoxious, insulting and totally isolating.

I think they should really grow up and learn some maturity-because going around throwing stuff at people is simply...vigilante justice.

No it's not..

1) Anyone wearing fur deserves to die.. slowly
2) Throwing eggs and paint at these idiots are an easy/cheap way to get the medias attention - to they do it because it works..

The next time you buy one of those jackets with fur in the top there's a pretty good chance that they were made this way : https://youtube.com/watch?v=bMmHyEc4Srw

Don't do business with fat people, they are lazy.

I have never met a fat vegeratian in my life.

Many .. MANY .. of PETA's members are CROOKED or INSANE or CRAZY or STUPID or IGNORANT... be very careful of PETA
They can really make life a problem for just about anyone
They're some kind of a sick powerful empire
PETA is like Scientology

Maybe you don't like to read but in my previous post I distinctly said I don't agree with fur. Meaning: I don't own any. I still don't agree with someone who throws paint on another human being. If you think that's a good way to bring attention to a cause, good for you. I certainly don't.

Niktamer 08-24-2009 05:04 AM

I love their marketing

sexandcash 08-24-2009 05:04 AM

I personally think instead of PETA writing horrible things about JLo and the Olsen twins and drawing ridiculous caricatures of them and other celebrities who wear fur, they should try to arrange a private meeting/film screening with them and educate them about the cruelty it takes to make a fur coat.

I believe education is far more effective than throwing paint on someone. If someone threw paint on me for any reason I would prosecute them to the full extent of the law and make them compensate me for all damaged items, etc. I have actually signed anti-fur cruelty petitions, btw. I don't have 100 fur coats sitting in my closet like Cruella Deville.

Vicious_B 08-24-2009 07:45 AM

Way to help people improve their lives and health, embarrass and humiliate them. PETA needs to learn to respect people as much as they do animals. I am very anti-fur and animal cruelty disgusts me but PETA is ridiculous.

ShellyCrash 08-24-2009 08:34 AM

It's all a publicity stunt. What ever shocks us keeps us talking about them.

"Sea Kittens" LOL

I do have to tip my hat to their marketing team, they are good at what they do.

I will have to. I know they are not supposed to eat fish. I have an aunt and uncle who are veggies and another aunt and uncle who are vegans. They try to get me to not eat meat all of the time. I could give up meat but I do like fish. :winkwink:

Looks like some are fighting about fish http://www.vegsoc.org/fish/thinktank.html

don't hate the playa, hate the game.

people only take notice of these guys if they do something one finds offensive. how many 'pleasant animal rights groups' can you name?

I don't eat red meat, or pork, etc... but I do eat fish. Because I choose to eat fish I don't call myself a vegetarian. I guess I could call myself a "pescan", but that's just too snobbish for me so I try to stay away from labels all together. The only time I'll use the term is if I have to say something to drive the point home not to put meat on my plate at a restaurant, like if I want a mushroom and swiss with JUST mushroom and swiss, no burger.

I don't think their offensive drawings and remarks have made Jlo and the Olsen Twins stopped wearing fur. It probably just pissed them off and made them anti-PETA.

I'm sorry but I am totally with Michelle on this one-I don't want to wear fur and I am against animal cruelty-but PETA is ridiculous and offensive. I don't really respect an organization that gets off on offending and humiliating people as well as destroying their personal propert and publicly attacking them.

Phallus Fondue 08-25-2009 02:49 AM

i am full on anti peta.
i also feel fur could easily be farmed in fairly humane ways and could actually help many animals populations that are desired for fur. i am full on sustainability for animals. it helps the environment, they keystone species, and animal populations.
not to mention, what about antique furs?
what if i kill a fox or a bear on my parents farm, that mean i can only either just use the meat or dispose of the carcus with its fur intact? why shouldnt someone use all of what they kill. preventing that is very fucked up.

nico-t 08-25-2009 03:25 AM

fat people are gross

Sarah_Jayne 08-25-2009 04:23 AM

All great if eating vegetarian meant you would instantly be healthy and slim. I eat more or less vegetarian these days and that has indeed helped me in my weight loss. However, chocolate is vegetarian, a lot of fatty cakes are vegetarian. French fries (not done in animal fat) are vegetarian, etc. It is very possible to be fat and unhealthy on a vegetarian diet.

Blackamooka 08-25-2009 04:49 AM

As much as I hate PETA, I somewhat agree with them in this case. This country is full of fat fucks and it's disgusting. You see a skinny celeb and everyone shouts out "eat a hamburger!" and meanwhile the country is full of disgusting fat pigs and no one says a god damned thing.

Americans need to stop treating fat people with kid gloves and tell them how it is.

PETA?s Pet Killing Program Set a New Record in 2008
Public Records: PETA Found Adoptive Homes for Less than 1 out of 300 Animals

Animal lovers worldwide now have access to more than a decade?s worth of proof that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) kills thousands of defenseless pets at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. Since 1998, PETA has opted to ?put down? 21,339 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens instead of finding homes for them.

indeed-vegetarianism does not automatically equal a healthy lifestyle-there are tons of ice cream, cakes, cookies, chocolates, soda, fries, grilled cheese sandwiches

It's about a healthy, balanced diet rather than just "vegetarianism"

Being a seafood lover, I'm curious.

Whale is honestly the most tasty meat I've ever eaten.
It's got the deep rich scarlet colour of the best quality steak you've ever eaten, with a grain that's as fine as a very good salmon.

It's fucking delicious, I can understand why the Japanese and the Norweigans flip the bird to people telling them to stop eating it...

like i said earlier the minke whale is not endangered and can easily be sustainably harvested forever without effecting populations. they actually could increase their yearly quota by very large number and it still would be sustainable and not hurt overall numbers. even if south korea who would like a quota of 1-2 hundred, along with a few other asian counties added in such numbers - things would be fine. japan is not even trying to push for more numbers anyways since they take what they need.
those whales also happen to consume 5-6 times the fish per year as the entire human race, so the more whale hunting the more fish available in the oceans. which include a lot of fish who's numbers are in alarmingly low numbers.

also kind of funny that the japanese really started hunting whales and the numbers they do right now due to the u.s. backing out of fishing treaties it had with them in the pacific. they needed to replace the now missing fish meat they used to get with another protien and whales were what was the most viable. they are a small island after all and they can only produce so much via the land for their citizens. japans version of the grazing farmlands we raise cattle on is the ocean.

the dutch though need to back off on the fin whale. japan has been removing its quota for those already and the dutch need to do the same. that whale is endangered and can not realistically be sustainably hunted in any real numbers. though we also have the inuit in america who also hunt and kill whales, they too need to switch to non endangered ones if they can. if they are unable though perhaps the world should allow them the fin whales and the dutch and japanese can take the minke's.

whew that was long winded. did not think i had that much typing in me. just sustainable hunting is a big interest of mine. before getting wrapped up in internet marketing i was planning on making that my profession as a scientist, however the money sucked ass and i figured i would work adult while i finished school for that. could not do it and left school to stay in the internet full time.

I hate labels too. If you want to eat meat great, if you don't great. No one needs a label. I am cutting down on red meat, but like I said I love fish.
