What is it?
iDEAL is an online payment method used in The Netherlands. Introduced in 2005, iDEAL allows customers to make secure purchases using direct online transfers from their bank account.
iDEAL offers a highly secure payment system processing transactions in real time using two-factor authentication (2FA). Additionally, no sensitive information is shared with the merchant, such as a credit card number. Due to the way these sales are processed, iDEAL transactions may not be charged back. This makes the iDeal transaction much more secure than an ACH transaction (as in the US) and less risky than a credit card transaction.
Anyone with a Dutch bank account and who makes use of Internet banking can pay with iDEAL. Roughly 63 percent of Dutch households may make online purchases with iDEAL. It is simple for the consumer to use and has merchant protections built in, making this a very safe transaction type.
Epoch has been beta testing the iDEAL transaction system for some time now and is releasing the payment option to all clients who request that it be added.
