i don't think the netbook market is big enough for apple to warrant going into.

It will grow and I do think Apple will have a NetBook soon. Rumor is they will be doing it with Verizon and not AT&T.

Apple won't ever have a netbook. They might have something along the lines of a big iPod, but I don't believe it will run the full OS, rather the iPhone/iPod OS.

Tim Cook from Apple said this about netbooks: "As it exists today, we’re not interested in nor would it be something customers would be interested in the long term"

There are rumors that they're working on different netbook type ideas, but won't release a product unless they can get it done right.

He said that back in April I believe. They may not make a traditional netbook but i think they will have something similar even if it is in tablet form. What would you call a small tablet with a 3G connection? The patent for the tablet you can find renderings of on the net was filed 4 years ago.
