I love my macbook air.. but lately, the cpu has been hitting 100% whenever video/skype video is running. i installed coolbook to monitor it.. haven't bought the paid version where it drops the cpu clock to reduce overheating.

found many threads/webpages talking about this issue..

didn't happen in the beginning, but maybe some kernel update/patch did something.

i have vmware installed, but now i use virtualbox.org .. its free. i have kbuntu installed along with windows.. so 3 OS on a machine.. nice.....

does adium let you do video conferencing under yahoo account?

i have icq and yahoo running.. would be nice to consolidate if it uses less memory.

icq uses up 62 megs of real memory and yahoo uses 33megs

The first soft you want is Parallels since half of what you'll need only works on Windows

You'll also need a good support forum because now is the time when people will come of the woodwork saying "Yeah actually this isn't supported","this crashes if you don't do this and this"....

Bought a Mac not so long ago I only use it for music.

I forgot to say, I only use it for music...and it can't even do that fucking right!

Adium is awesome, and flip4mac is useful. Look into Handbrake if you rip movies off dvd.

O'RLY? I have here a Macbook Pro and a Sony TZ SSD Model (Japan import but still roughly same price as the Macbook)

The Sony boots twice as fast as the Mac, it weights less than half the weight (1.3kg), has longer battery life thanks to the ssd and never crashed.

The Macbook hasn't been a nightmare but if I take away the novelty factor it has given much more trouble than the Sony.

One of the problems with comparing Macs and PCs is people compare dirt cheat PCs they treat like shit, with high end Macs they treat like Jewelry.

What is the best Mac deal at the moment for a Laptop.

Friend of mine is in the US and with the exchange as it is I think I should ask him to buy it for me while he's over there.

Don't care to much for the big 17 inch screen...

The new 13in Macbook Pros are nice. And they're cheap too. I paid more than this for my old Macbook a few years back.

Got the 13" for just over 1200 out the door at Fry's. Happiest sales person I've ever seen. Store opened at 8... I was there at 8:15, picked out the lappie and had paperwork and payment completed by 8:20.
