impersonating an officer even over the phone is a crime, I did telemarketing for the state troopers association in my teens and you cannot impersonate cops over the phone,... we were under strict rules regarding that stuff. My guess is fake...

if you have your phone number listed on the do not call registry, and you are still getting telemarketing calls.. and you freaked out the caller with a police gag, and he tells his supervisor, you think they are going to call the cops to report that you were impersonating a cop when they called you in violation of the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007?

my thoughts exactly...... maybe cold callers are under such regs but the person receiving the unsolicited call can do whatever the f he/she wants........

I am not going to argue about some silly no call list, however, I was trained by State Troopers over what I could and could not do. My understanding, from the officers were, that if one party *actually* believes you are an officer and you are not, you are possibly committing a crime. By phone or in person. By doing so over the phone, you are possibly breaking federal laws as well...

I dont even think the call is real, but impersonating an officer, and "detaining them" by "forcing them to stay on the phone" after they wish to get their supervisor, I promise you is treading into impersonation grounds. a No call list has zero to do with the discussion.

I had a guy ring me up to try and get me to change my mobile phone to a contract phone. So I let him ramble on for a bit until he asked me what I use my phone for and how much I spend on topping it up

My reply was " I offer gay phone chat are you interested in discounted gay talk. Ill talk about virtually anything to get you going"

His reply was "sorry you offer what"

so I told him again and he just started laughing and said no he wasent interested.

It stoped him dead and I said I really wasent interested he said thanks for the laugh and put the phone down.

My misses was cracked up laughing.
