MIKE TYSON is the best boxer in history:

Lets get real speed and power wins boxing matches, and TYSON by far had both of the best,

ya maybe he had a rocky career but watch his fights and his insane speed.

if you choose by peak his peak is above and beyond what i have ever seen from any boxer style + speed or power wise.

I would love to see him and Ali fight at their primes. That would be a hell of a match.

Mike Tyson was a classic bully who got smacked down by Douglas and Holyfield. Tyson was a heavyweight twurp who got pushed around and dominated by real boxers. Tyson will be remembered as a fool with no heart and a tragic sports figure for the history books.

Tyson wasn't a real boxer, which is why he was permanently put into his place early in his boxing life, even though he had some amazing fights... time tells if the person is a real boxer.

Anyone that thinks Tyson was a boxer, isn't a real fan of the sport. But I bet they are into WWE like mad!

Not even close. He was maybe the scariest for his 15 minutes of fame. I used to think Rocky Marciano was, but if you look at old stats and records there are a handful considered better than him.

Boxing has been around before the gloves

Plus Tyson had no competition in his era unlike the other ones who were considered great

If he hadn't left his first trainer he may have become one of the best. He WAS one of the most dominant imo, again, under his first trainer.

The best BOXER though? You have to look outside the heavyweight division for that. Off the top of my head, Roy Jones Jr and Sugar Ray Leonard would be near the top.

I stand corrected, but stand by the rest of what I said.

D'Amato died in November 1985, relatively early into Tyson's professional career; some speculate that his death was the genesis of many of the troubles Tyson was to experience later as his life and career progressed

As much as it pains me to say it, if Tyson were in his prime today he likely wouldn't get past either Klitschko brother. Tyson always had trouble with tall, long heavyweights with reach, especially when they had excellent jabs, and that is Wladimir and Vitali.

Even though Tyson was a shell of himself when he fought Lennox Lewis that is exactly how a Tyson fight with either Klitschko brother would have went down. He would have been battered with the jab until he was finally KO'd...

valid argument for sure, i also love the klitschko brothers. it would really depend because at his peak tyson had the ability to get inside which poses trouble for tall boxers who use the jab lots.

hard to say.

mike tyson in his prime, would of done away with most boxers. I do think he would of had more of a struggle back in the ali days, he prolly would of lost to others, but still would be in the top 5 of all time.

You would be in the minority, if you think tyson was the best heavyweight ever.

I don't see how you can call either Klitschko brother a bum now. Wladimir is day and night better than he was a few years ago. Ever since Emanuel Steward started training him he has become a machine that calmly picks his opponent apart with his jab while taking little to no punishment in return. Vitali has come back from a long layoff and is looking as dominant as ever.

Tyson hardly looked like a world beater when he fought faded tall, long fighters like Mitch Green, Bonecrusher Smith, and Tony Tucker, and that was when he was supposed to be this unstoppable monster. None of those three fighters were able to test Tyson's chin, but all three were able to keep him from getting inside and frustrated him. Now imagine Wladimir making Tyson eat jab after jab, followed by that powerful left hook of his. Or Vitali and his clubbing jabs and right hand. I have a very hard time seeing even a prime Tyson getting inside against either of these robots...

very valid points i honestly put the Klitchko brothers up top, they may not be the funnest to watch but they go in with a game plan, stick to it and get the job done.

it doesnt matter how you win a fight as long as you win it.

I do love talking boxing, but we will just have to agree to disagree on this one. I think tyson would man handle both klitschko brothers, but then again I thought he would wipe the floor with buster douglas.

Wladimir's last fight almost put me to sleep, but he pounded Ruslan Chagaev and off the top of my head I can't remember Chagaev getting inside once and landing anything of consequence. He is just a fucking machine now and he has gone from a guy that would blow his wad early to a calm assassin that looks like he is in an over glorified sparring session when he fights. I used to enjoy watching the old Wladimir, when he would go out there with guns blazing, and I really want to not like him now, but who is going to beat him?

Hehehe, I still remember the night that fight happened. I was 16 at the time, and I was in the parking lot of a bowling alley getting drunk with a bunch of friends. As a matter of fact you're in South Fla, so you probably know it, the bowling alley next door to Piper High School in Sunrise, Fla, that used to have the Rock N Bowl on Saturday nights that all the metal heads would frequent.

Well I got way too trashed and ended up passing out in the back seat of the car before I ever made it in, and around 1 AM or so my buddy was pounding on the back window of the car screaming "Wake up! Wake up! Holy shit he fucking lost!!!", and there was a huge group of people in the parking lot in disbelief talking about what they had heard on the radio. I don't know if a pro boxer will ever be able to elicit that kind of reaction in people ever again...
