As a matter of fact you're in South Fla, so you probably know it, the bowling alley next door to Piper High School in Sunrise, Fla, that used to have the Rock N Bowl on Saturday nights that all the metal heads would frequent.

Well I got way too trashed and ended up passing out in the back seat of the car before I ever made it in, and around 1 AM or so my buddy was pounding on the back window of the car screaming "Wake up! Wake up! Holy shit he fucking lost!!!", and there was a huge group of people in the parking lot in disbelief talking about what they had heard on the radio. I don't know if a pro boxer will ever be able to elicit that kind of reaction in people ever again...

LOL!! I know the place, I used to go to the rock n bowl! I watched the fight at my place with a couple of friends, and we were stunned. Tyson might be one of the few people in any sport that could put the fear of god into his opponents without even saying a word.

He is just a fucking machine now and he has gone from a guy that would blow his wad early to a calm assassin that looks like he is in an over glorified sparring session when he fights. I used to enjoy watching the old Wladimir, when he would go out there with guns blazing, and I really want to not like him now, but who is going to beat him?

thats why the heavyweight division is always hard, the talent is almost ALWAYS spread thin throughout history. there are the few big guys who can box and float then there is the guys who box like HEAVYweights and the difference between the two in unquestionable when you see them in the ring.

That's fucking awesome, man those were some good times. I graduated from Piper (I'm 35 now) and the Rock N Bowl was a mandatory weekend thing. I want to say the name of that bowling alley was Ceasar's Lanes, and that was towards the end of the hair metal era so they played a ton of that stuff. It was a great place to meet sleazy metalhead chicks...

I'm a stranahan graduate. Yeah it was the metal era. If you had long hair and could sport some leather, you would score at the rock n bowl :1orglaugh

I always was a fan of him, in his prime he was just dominating.

Far too many people are so brainwashed from all those tv horror stories about him that they can't seem to admit the simple fact that he was is the youngest heavy weight champion of all time and remained undefeated for 5 years, that all with being only 6'0 (maybe 6'1 ?)

Great speed, great defense, massive punching power.

I don't know how would he rank against the all time greats and I would put at least say Foreman, Frazier, Ali, Louis, Marciano from the top of my head above him, well no one of us will know.

He sure was extremely exciting to watch though.

xxxTILTxxx 08-08-2009 02:00 PM

TYSON at 19 -22 yrs of age was by far the best of the best in terms of raw talent, speed, power and just fucking awesome talent!!

nikki99 08-08-2009 11:10 PM

so where is the fucking video to watch?

wheat 08-08-2009 11:35 PM

Tyson might not have been the best technical boxer or whatever criteria you're using to rate him below #1, but god damn, watching him annihilate guys in the beginning of his career was fun.

5' 11 Tyson vs Berbick: https://youtube.com/watch?v=_MY3RtJUrD8

I got up ultra early on a Sunday morning here in the UK to watch it, I was 13 or 14, and I was fucking amazed :)

Owner 08-08-2009 11:41 PM

Tyson was by far the best in his prime at destroying anyone in the ring. He was like Brock Lesnar today in the fact that he won... he didn't care how he did it or if you got some hits in... he was going to break you into pieces and you were going to lose. :2 cents:

Drake 08-08-2009 11:46 PM

For heavyweights, Tyson is perhaps in the top 10 all time best, but not the best. Guys like Ali would have beaten Tyson even in Tyson's prime.

Jel 08-08-2009 11:58 PM

Henry Cooper, Frazier, and some othjer guy I can't recall all put Ali on the deck. Tyson in his prime catches Ali and Ali ain't getting up. People forget how quick Tyson actually was, and how much sheer power his punches carried. Sure he turned into a psycho freak whackjob later on, but at his peak he was phenomenal. For a heavyweight he was small and light, yet he made 19 1st round knockouts, won his first world title aged 20 beating a 32 year old seasoned fighter, unified the belts, and was exciting as fuck to watch :)

Obviously opinions differ, but to write him off as some sort of no-hoper had he and Ali been around at the same time is well, wrong. So there ;)

2012 08-09-2009 12:01 AM

the bigger they are the harder they fall

Supz 08-09-2009 12:45 AM

I wouldn't say best. I would say the most dominating ever.

To Ali's credit, he lost to Frazier who is also among the best boxers of all time. His other losses occured near the end of his career far from his prime. As dominating as Tyson was, he did lose to one hit woner 'Buster' Douglas. I agree he was fun to watch because of his sheer power.

who 08-09-2009 01:12 AM

I fully agree, Tyson was a master. And such a quaint little fellow, too.

haha, dude... no reason to make yourself look more like a fool, thinking Tyson is cool... I'm sure you were like 10 or something, so Tyson seems like a god to you.

I'm not much into MMA either, I don't really know who Broc Lesnar is, so if you say he is destroying the league, then cool... I had no idea it was a league.

TheDoc 08-09-2009 06:37 AM

Tyson got beat down early in his career for a reason. He was a mad puncher, with mad power, that's it. He had "ZERO" boxing skills... ZERO, skills.

He was actually 'bad' at the basic's of boxing. Even big fighters of the day, confirmed, he sucks at boxing.

This is why he was put into his place.. at the end of the day, remember that. Before he went nuts, he was beat down, and put into his place.

See people like Tiger Woods, that's people that over take as a champion and hold it, because they 'really are' the best.

You aren't the best, just because you had a few shining moments. You're the best, the baddest, the greatest.... because you proved it.

Don't take the greatness away from those that really 'proved' they deserve it.

hey dude do you know what is not cool YOU.

i am a fool because i can discuss boxing? and because you are some old dude sitting in his basement watching black and white re runs of fight and im the fool?

again Tyson is cool YES you are NOT COOL.

wow you're not into MMA good for you, you are obviously not into boxing either because you sound like a complete idiot on the topic.

the fact that your nic is "TheDoc" it is pretty clear you are full of yourself, you probably changed your wifes oil once and she got turned on because it was the firstime you stepped up and acted like a man. then you felt cool and called yourself "TheDoc" thinking you are mr fixit. wow awesome man good for you!

and why do you care if i was 10 20 30 or 0? someone has old man syndrome and feels threatened by a younger view that is REAL. it doesnt take away from the fact you are complete idiot when it comes to discussing boxing.

i guess i was 10 and it is twice as sad for you that i was 10 and knew boxing better then you.

Tyson was knocked the fuck out by buster douglas, let me repeat james "buster" douglas.
In ali's time you had some of the best heavyweights ever. Tyson would have lost to ali. Foreman probably would have killed him, and he would have had a punchers chance against frazier.

I'm a fan, but I disagree. It's not him but it's definitely not Mohammad Ali either.

Yup Frazier would have whooped his ass all over the ring, and Ali's jab would have cut him up... :2 cents:

Now THAT was the fight I always wanted to see, Tyson vs Foreman, and I really thought it was going to happen at one point. I always thought Foreman was tailor made to beat Tyson, too, since his jab was like hitting someone in the face with a sledgehammer. When Foreman came back he showed a fucking chin that was just insane. He took ridiculous amounts of punishment in some of his fights and still kept coming, and wasn't even knocked down once in any fight during his comeback. Hell he didn't even sit on the stool in between rounds.

When Tyson/Foreman was really being considered Tyson had already lost both Holyfield fights and some of the mystique was gone, but I was convinced if they had fought Tyson probably would have gotten his shots in because Foreman was so damn slow, but he would've gotten discouraged when he couldn't knock Foreman down. I figured Foreman would've made Tyson eat that sledgehammer jab repeatedly until Tyson eventually quit. Pure speculation on my part, but damn I wish that fight would've happened...

Foreman in his prime was a KILLER!! That loss to ali crippled him mentally, if he wins that fight he would have dominated that division for years. Remember he destroyed frazier, and he gave ali all he could handle. Then the dude comes back and wins the heavyweight title at 45 yrs. old.

And what does drinking have to do with anything? Even if I didn't, what moron tries to bring that up? Again are you stupid?

Aye it is great, is it hard for you to understand that "the best" means "proven history" not 1 event. Sure would be a lot of "best" people running around, just because they did it so young.

But damn, that would mean your mum is the best whore, eva, gangsta bitch.

Why don't you go back to pretending to be something, a webmaster, black or a bitch that pretends to get laid. Pfft, I'm arguing with a failed pathetic gfy joke, a Canadian 'gangsta' ... I best watch out before the East side gets me.

TheDoc 08-09-2009 01:49 PM

BTW, Tyson deserves no respect... he lost all respect when he disrespected the ring. He was promoted because he was a hard hitter and that's it, period, point, and blank.

One man made Tyson who he was, and it wasn't Tyson.

naughty1 08-09-2009 06:16 PM

Tyson is a whack job, a RAPIST/Wife Beater

yeah WAS a decent boxer but he was don kings stooge

I always liked watching Sugar Ray Box now he had some quick hands.

The only reason the last two PPVs got watched when tyson boxed is because people wanted to see what kind of stupid shit he was going to pull.

DirtyDanza 08-09-2009 09:58 PM

Here is the new documentary on TYSON that is out in theaters

I uploaded to my server

http://mibpaintball.com/b2k/Tyson.avi

DirtyDanza 08-09-2009 09:59 PM

BTW tyson was a brawler not a boxer..

he would never stand a chance with a real boxer...

I bet manny would put him in his place in his prime and manny is about 70lbs under tyson

Tyson was a heavy hitter and that was basically his only raw talent, he wasn't the greatest at taking punches. Hence why his carreer went down so fast.

Even though Tyson was a shell of himself when he fought Lennox Lewis that is exactly how a Tyson fight with either Klitschko brother would have went down. He would have been battered with the jab until he was finally KO'd...

Tyson in his prime would OWN either of these two guys. :2 cents:

AdultHardcore 08-10-2009 11:19 AM

Ali was by far a better boxer than Tyson could ever dream of being. Ali would have had Tyson so fucked up mentally before they even fought.

He couldn't OWN mediocre tall boxers with jabs like Tony Tucker and Bonecrusher Smith, what makes you think he could own the two machines that are the Kiltschko brothers? You're watching too many episodes of ESPN classic where Tyson walked over a blown up cruiserweight Michael Spinks or a way over the hill Larry Holmes. Both Kiltschkos would give Tyson the same beating Lennox Lewis did, making him eat their jab until he either quit on his stool or finally got KO'd by Wladimir's left hook or Vitali's clubbing right...

bizasusual 08-11-2009 11:38 PM

Tyson was fun to watch ... always entertaining and you never knew what the hell was gonna happen ... but the best ? Come on .... He really never even fought anyone that great ... Holyfield was the best fighter he ever face or Lenox Lewis and he got destroyed by both ..

Ali all the way as the best in the heavyweight division ....

sugar ray and roy jones, jr I agree may be the best overall boxers .... but i have to say .... i love watching Manny P ...
