Do you have to turn off privacy protection to transfer a domain?

All domains I am transferring are unlocked, but I am having an issue with some not transferring, namecheap says they will have to manually transfer those ones.

They also told me to turn off privacy protection and make sure my domains were unlocked.

Do you normally have to turn off privacy protection to complete a domain transfer? Only one of the domains I am transferring has privacy protection on it.

Yeah, you must set back the domain into public status before transferring it to another provider.

OK, looks like the transfers are going through OK now. The one that had privacy protection on it did go through without me turning it off. They told me that register . com was blocking their IP for some reason though, which is why they had to do it manually. Weird.
