Anyone catch Cruefest 2 this summer?
http://www.cruefest2.com
I took my two oldest kids and my niece to see the show Saturday night and we had a blast. We were running late from dinner thanks to the world's slowest waiter at Mr Lucky's 24-7, so missed Charm City Devils. Drowning Pool was actually pretty damn good. This was the band the kids really wanted to see and my niece even managed to snag a drumstick. They had a great time sionging along to all the songs. Theory of a Deadman...what the fuck is this? Other than the bad girlfriend song that plays once an hour on the local radio stations, which is moderately listenable at best, these guys suck...I admire the fact that Motley Crue is looking to diversify the bands for Cruefest, but these guys were just terrible... Godsmack destroyed. Sully was in top form vocally and the band played tight. The pyro was decent and the drum-off between the drummer and Sully was pretty damn good. Motley Crue did what they do and have done for the last 30 years: showed these youngsters how the fuck it's done. They played Dr. Feelgood from top to bottom and of course played some of the classics...too bad they couldn't have dumped Theory Of A Deadman and played that extra 30-40 minutes themselves or gave more time to Godsmack... Overall, the show was great, with tons of pyro, fun and these bands earned some new, younger fans.... Too bad ticket prices have gotten out of control....we had GA floorseats and after fees, etc. it was nearly $100 per ticket...there was once a nice trend of people bringing their own teens and tweens to these kinds of shows to expose them to new music that is being stopped by ticket prices like these.... |
