But the christian right would shit they're pants if they saw that the government was (gasp), also protecting the rights of pornographers all around the world. Obama does not pass laws. That is the job of Congress. They pass them and Obama either signs of vetoes them. If he vetoes them, Congress can still get the law past him.
Obama can introduce bills to Congress, but he can't pass them. Neither can his VP, who essentially oversees the Senate.
Signing statements are a beast of their own, but they don't even come into play unless Congress passes something in the first place.Comment

Yes, of course people that do not like Obama are going to take this opportunity to post bad things about him. I, on the other hand, voted for the man. This is not an indirect "slam" against him by any means. The point of this thread is the "bigger picture" and the possibility, not assuming fact, but the possibility of the huge ramifications if something like this were to go through. It is always better to be aware than ignorant. The fact that some people here who have read this thread, can now deduce and make their own opinions now... I have done my job. I also posted this on one of my mainstream blogs as well, so even more people can make opinions... Fact of the matter is that U.S. media does not report everything that it probably should. Chiding me for posting something that has the potential to affect this industry, especially since the large majority of users of this board are "e-based" seems a bit ridiculous. ok I maybe not the most Tech Savy here but I think I know a bit...
1- How can they tell that MP3 file in my Laptop or Ipod/Iphone was downloaded on a torrent or simply copied form a CD I have back home?
2- How can they tell that the Microsoft Office Suite I have in my laptop is a legit one or not?
3- How can they tell if the Movie I have in my laptop have been illigally Downloaded or simply copied from a DVD I have back home. (At the begining of movies in French Version of Interpol disclaimer, it says something like : ".... Copy for the private use is allowed ..."
That being said, they scanned my MacBook at Quebec Airport when I got back from Xbiz Vegas last year, they were looking for C-P ... Found nothing beside some galleries I was doing for Penthouse because their "search Software" is not working on Macs, gave them a business card and told them that was a good thing actually... Guys were asking me for sites URL.. lol
So yes I think that in the future, if you carry a a laptop with you thru Security Check, they will do some "random" searches from time to time... Fantastic when you have short layovers..Comment
