had to blog this one today considering not that long ago a 7 year old black kid did the same thing, except he and his family were vilified and parents made to look bad and was not put on talk shows and laughed at as funny.

Regarding kids stealing cars to avoid church, I'm going to pull the Sister Act card and say that perhaps making church a little more interesting would be a good idea. I realize that kids should expect to do a lot of things they don't want to do - to prepare them for the same in adult life, but with religion if you really want to brainwash them into it, make it fun and interesting for them. Why churches haven't figured this out is beyond me. the facts are more complex than just race. white boy was running from church, that was the punchline. he didnt cause any property damage.
the african american was on a joy ride. Kid quote from video: "I wanna do it cause its fun, fun to do bad things, to drive into a car." He hit 2 parked cars, 2 moving cars, & a couple mailboxes.
i would not draw any racial implications when what they did & their motives are so different. Personally i thought the black kid was a riot
