    BMW is leaving Formula1

BMW will leave formula 1 after this season president Norbert Reithofer said in a press conference earlyer this morning. (yup, it's morning in Belgium)

According to Autobild (German newspaper) are the poor results and high costs the reason. According to Reithofer these are not the main reasons. Internal changes in strategy are the main reasons BMW leaves F1. BMW will however stay active in other motor sports.

Reithofer said the money they will save from competing in F1 will now be used for developping "green" cars, cars who are better for the environment.

This season the cars where driven by Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld. The both of them only scored 8 points so far.

    Buh buy BMW.....

Been in the hospital for 2 months (car accident), then had to do recovery for my back spine and now i'm doing sim hours because my license is frozen (lack of PIC hours). Was concentrating on getting back onto my feet and doing alot of thinking where i want to go in life.

EDIT: i've never flown a fighter jet, don't know where you got that idea.

That's not going to be good for the sport, or the development of their cars. They do however spend a shitload in all the coupe racing, so I guess all is not lost.

I recall seeing a race not that long ago, there were only about 14 Formula 1 cars lined up at the start, and less than half finished.

F1 on the way out? It lost its appeal after Senna died for me.
