Shall I draft the first go at the rules?

[The Leader] 12-05-2002 12:37 PM

Yes, you deffinatly should. This is a terrific idea.

Hoax, what's your e-mail address?

Va2k 12-05-2002 12:44 PM

YES and keep me posted please [email protected] I know what my galleries do :)~

Sounds great. How does one get in?
Here's an idea. To get a high traffic TGP, keep an entry fee but also have half (or 75%) of the pot go to the winner and the other percentage go to the TGP that fronts the listings!

Looking forward to this :)

Soooooooo????

Sounds interesting.

I like the idea of using chokers listings, large pool of tgps that way, everyone gets the same number of hits.

I personally think all the galleries should be on the same server, that way if anone gets downtime they all get downtime. Plus the 3rd party can have logs of incoming hits and such.

If you are using an entry fee, then why limit designers participation as long as their designs are done by them and not brokers. Who cares if they do 10 each or 1 each, if they rock then they will shine, if they suck it just increases the pot.

Maybe handle the content in a different fashion. Say we find a provider, then each entrant is allowed to pick a sets, or movies from that provider. Everyone is allowed the same amount to spend per gallery at that provider. This would allow a even field yet at the same time show their ability to pick and match content.

A sponsor could be tricky, I think everyone should be promoting the same sponsor though. This prevents the "scrubbing issue", and levels the field, yet still allows people to pick from a niche at that sponsor. Or limit the sites they can choose so everyone is in a main niche, nothing to specialized, hell if you want to see who comes up with the best design for sales, pick a saturated niche like teen. So the sponsor, niche, and site choice is out of the equation.

For design rules, hell if you use choker just make all galleries follow his submission guidelines.

Now as for the pot, why not make the pot all the sales that all the galleries do. Or do a portion for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Everyone uses the same refferal codes to one main site. If it is done that way though, best have 2 or 3 sponsors. Specially if using chokers rules since you can get away with so many ads. Yet everyone uses the same refferal codes for all sponsors. When the contest is over then the 3rd party dishes out the rewards from the sales all the sites made.

Thats my few cents.

If everyone sends traffic to the same sponsor account, it may be difficult to determine who make which sales. I have yet to find perfect sponsor stats, there's always no reffer sales. Especially if the program uses something like epoch, it would be impossible.

Scratch that epoch thing the sponsor would have to track urls to prevent people from cheating by sending traffic from other sources.

my :2 cents:

Too much work for too little return.

One idea tossed around another board a few years back was to get a group of ten or so webmasters that could all say send 10,000 hits a day to a site, with the idea being once they reached a high traffic volume they could THENstart sending out hits to programs.

Something I nearly got into two years ago was gathering a group of amateurs that ran their owm sites and then combining them into one large paysite. Multiple girls, women, couples . . . we had people that shot a lot of pictures and a lot of video, stories, chat etc. Sort of like what JD of the wetlands did, but on a more limited scale. With the varied traffic sources around here it could be done. One or two people would obviously have to control it, but it would sort of be a way to accumualte more TOTAL money for everyone if it was done right. Sales would be split by all that participate in an equitable manner, and the profits dumped back in for advertising and whatever costs encountered,

I'll provide the hosting for you little contest at no charge, that way you don't have to worry about anyone messing with their logs, and you can check to make sure that no one sends any "extra" traffic to their page in order to boost sales :) Not that anyone here would do that, but just so that there is no hint of impropriety :1orglaugh

Just let me know when your ready.
