Whatever he will pay. Everything is worth what someone will pay for it. Ask him what he had in mind and take it from there, since you have no idea. If it's too low, ask even higher (much) than what you original think you want (since it will ALL probably be in vain anyway at that point).

If his starting price is better than what you would have asked or more than you think you deserve don't be an idiot or listen to other people. Take it if you want to get rid of the site.

Watch out for the "approved 3rd party appraisal", where they own the company that is an "approved" appraiser scam.

I did and here is what they answered:

"Hello,
My client is requesting a sale price, he does not make offers on a domain name
that an offer cannot be based upon research.

The interest is just what it is, an interest.
If the domain name sale price is in the budget that is set
for domain names of interest, then a deal is discussed.

Your domain name is not of priority so I will not be requesting
your sale price again if you do not want to give it."

what the fuck is that? And they are calling themeselves "sure-bet-domain-names.us"

He's a fucking idiot! If you want to have some fun just keep fucking with him and start telling him how people are suddenly offering you huge bucks for the site. He's either trying to milk you or just feeling things out and trying to pick shit up for as cheap as possible.

For all you know he's just breaking into the business and collecting stats! I'd just fuck with him.

Sounds like they want to sound less interested than they are...

Give them a number that would make you very happy without worrying about what they think. If they take it great. If they counter, work a deal. If they go away, they didn't want it bad enough.

This part alone is hilarious

What the fuck is he waiting for? Research it. He's such a big shot that he is too ill equipped to do what needs to be done! too funny!

I think later you will find simlar to what "alias" mentioned and that is they require a valuation ( appraisal ) before purchase....

The list will contain known names such as Sedo and Moniker (just to give you reassurance) and another cheap one........most get the valuation from the cheaper (this is thiers and its how they make $$$ from bullshit valuation fees) and will never purchase your domain....

Note: Sedo/Moniker have no part in this other than scammers using thier names without permission to gain confidence from you.

This may not be the case but it has all the signs of it from your posts .....

I mean you can go to these auction sites and see what sites are going for, but there are so many factors. Mostly though, how much is the site making? But there are additional things.

If he was serious, he would already have an offer for you. That's the real issue. No one even looks for a used car without a price in mind.

It surprises me people selling a domain would pay for the appraisal. If someone came to me to buy a domain and wanted it appraised I'd say go for it and no way would I agree to be stuck selling at the appraised price.

Like every scam it feeds on greed. Some people are just going to pay the fee, get their card banged or even just the fee. Send out enough of these bullshit inquiry emails and you have yourself a working scam.

Most likely the type of company these guys in your thread are talking about. Tell them to pay for the appraisel and you'll deduct it from the sale

I have a friend who actually had one of those african bank email spammers going for days. He was on the phone with him and everything. It was priceless-amazing. He finally just had to tell the guy he knew he was full of shit, and wasn't going to give him any info at all.
