Look dude, I'm 31. I'm established enough in life to not give a shit about parting with $30 to buy a Blu-Ray. Or $15 to buy a CD. These days I'm more worried about getting some virus from surfing ThePirateBay.

I'm pretty sure most 50 year olds have a good income, and are in a similar category. In fact I know a lot of guys like that... and trust me, when they want a new album they go to the store and buy it. Or they get it from iTunes.

Now don't get me wrong... my dad used to work for a company called Valley Media here in Northern California, and they were the largest media distributor in the world. They went out of business about 5 years ago, and it was blamed on music piracy. I know it happens... but not so much in the demographic of Susan Boyle.

I think a lot of it has to do with her target audience and them not being as internet fluent as others. I read not too long ago that those that identify themselves as country music fans do the least amount of illegal music downloading. It makes me wonder if country music fans just don't have the know how or tech knowledge to download or if it is that many of them posses the values of not stealing and paying for what you want.

This is the best thing that could have ever happened to the music industry. It finally shows them that their fucking formula (young, hot singers and cookie cutter rip offs of last weeks number one hit) is crap. Susan Boyle is almost 50, overweight, unattractive, and has a cat fetish. People like her because they saw her on fucking TV. Sadly, however, the industry will continue to fuck up by overproducing last weeks success. Expect to see a thousand Susan Boyle copy cats next week. Pathetic.

Word to aspiring artists - FUCK talent, FUCK looks, FUCK good songs. Get a reality TV show or crash a white house state dinner and you too will get a major label deal. William FUCKING NO TALENT Hung got a deal. Paris FUCKING NO TALENT Hilton got a deal. K FUCKING NO TALENT Fed go a deal.

This is both a good thing and a bad thing - good thing in that it's something non-rap non-R&B non-pop shit non-emo rock that sold really really well. The bad thing is that now all these record labels will be trying to find the next Susan Boyle, not realizing that it's pretty much going to be a one-time phenomenon a la MDHP.
