I'd hate to compare GFY to certain mainstream boards but,

would it not be a good idea to have some kind of trader rating system in place to help weed out the plague that is scammers?

It would probably also help to rid the forum of some drama threads.

Any thoughts?

And no I do not have any bad blood between myself and any members I have done business with on this forum, only good dealings. this is merely a suggestion.

In theory a system like that sounds decent... but at the end of the day, I see someone getting bad ratings because someone simply doesn't like them. A rating system would need to be policed, which would essentially make it worthless.

I think the community is pretty decent at weeding out the scammers. You simply need to do your due diligence when doing business with a new party that you don't know anything about. This board is a great resource for doing that due diligence.

Both very good points

Just seems there are still people getting taken for a ride all the time and if there was a good way to place feedback for people to view it could be cut down a lot.

I know GFY and the Team are not responsible for bad trades or deals but perhaps a simple system of comments would help?

Because they don't work. All you do is grab a handful of proxies, a handful of email accounts. Set up oh a dozen board accounts and start raising your trader rating level with a bunch of false I purchased and loved it ratings.

It's better to get to know people a little before you deal with them.

Hugs,
Danielle

Yes except people apparently sell their nicks around here...so a scammer could buy a nick from someone for like $50-$100 and scam someone out of $1,000+ easily.

Seriously? If it was that simple I would be able to stop webcams.com and the Epiccams/hahaha nightmare from spamming our members.

But I can't say that out loud because bad things only happen to lame porn sites/programs.

Move on. It's part of what you have to deal with like the rest of us peasants. (should there be an h in there?)

but then a buyer would see that all the positive ratings are from fake nicks no one has ever heard of... and that's if the scammer would even bother to jump through all the hoops..
it wouldn't be a perfect solution but would make it harder for scammers to do business around here...

Not trying to be an asshole.. but it's their own damn fault.... they were lazy, wanted to make a quick buck or get something for next to nothing or the deal was too good to be true and they got fucked over. Besides, I wouldn't do biz with anyone who hasn't been online here for at least a year - scammers are not that patient.

Ebay has a rating system and I have found it to be totally worthless.

People actually "buy" positive feedback by buying everything they can find for a
dollar and sending payment right away and then email you asking for feedback and
hold you hostage with their feedback until you leave a positive for them.

The biggest assholes on ebay have the highest ratngs.

I've never left negative feedback on ebay no matter how bad things were because the other party would simply retaliate through the system.

i was buying a some things half year ago on mainstream webmasters forums and to be true, GFY is like a heaven with honest people. so many shitty stuff and services are selling on non-adult forums, that it makes GFY a rare place.
yes, there are scammers here too, but it cant be compared with mainstream forums.

I would say 95% scammers on mainstream boards and 5% here of member base.

I agree with that one. Very well said. I think people may have different views on who is a scammer or who is not based on their own interpretations and standards.

So you will be professional with this account and keep the ball rolling, but another
buyer may not do the same. This is what makes the rating system less than perfect.
We just don't know if things will stay the same.

It's not useless but it also won't solve all the problems. iTrader system is only as good as the board its on.
