There's slightly more to Escrima than just bashing eachother with sticks...

These guys were doing this before UFC was around. I have known Eric Knous and Marc Denny for 18 years. They are for real. They are also BJJ Black belts under Rigan Machado.


The was a fine line between waring too much gear and giving up mobility and waring more protective gear and having way less mobility.


The do it 3 times a year in a park in hermosa beach. Its free to watch and it really puts perspective on what a stick can and cannot do.


The weapons are anything that the other opponent agrees on. I have seen spiked bollos on a chain and stick v. a tri folding staff. Its pretty nutz and very real.


Everyone is really cool and there are never any hard feelings at the end.

i will dress it up however i want. i'm willing to bet that you could take just about any weapon you'd like, minus a firearm into a fight with these "plain old suburban white boys" and they have you battered into a fucking coma within a minute with their silly "sticks".

What exactly is your point? Exactly what part of evolution states that by evolving we will become any less violent in nature? Who even said that evolving away from violent tendencies is a good thing? It's just a massive fucking assumption. Man is no less bloodthirsty now than he has ever been. The evolution of combat and the evolution of man go hand in hand. Maybe I am completely missing your point altogether, if so by all means point it out, but I'm pretty sure low on the list of mankind's priorities when it comes to evolution is becoming a bunch of fluffy care bears...

You may dress it up as human nature or whatever you want to, you are free to do so and even if I dont agree, you are still gonna belive what you belive, and those kids will still run around and hit eachother in the head with sticks.

There is nothing wrong with fighting a enemy, but those kids are fighting eachother for the sake of fighting.

You think that the oposit of those kids are "becoming a bunch of fluffy care bears" - then fine, that just proves you dont get it. Not my problem.

I'm not debating if Man is no less bloodthirsty now than he has ever been. In fact, I think more people are more agressive now, than anytime else in the last 40 years. I am happy that there are still people around the world that act like that, because that means more people will die. And we need more people to die, unless we all want to starve to death in the future.

So if others are willing to do the killing, then fine with me. I'll just rather spend my time on my bikes, pets and family
