    Rogers/Bell USB internet stick

Who has used this? Has anyone tried both? Do they both pretty much have the same coverage and speed or are there noticable differences? I am looking into getting one.

I didn't even know telus offered one. Last time i checked they didn't offer accounts for individuals.

The one thing that rogers has that telus and bell don't is that they allow you to do only a one year contract and get the stick for free. I see telus wants you to pay 50 bucks for a 1 year.

bandwidth prices for using it pretty high like their cell phones? I've avoided cell internet because of the high prices per gig.

I got an unlimited bandwidth contract, but none of the companies offer it anymore so I was lucky to get it when I did..... but Telus offers a pretty good deal still with alot of bandwidth included, I think you get a few gigs without any extra charge, just not unlimited anymore

looking at their website they appear to charge 25 bucks (plus 6.95 sys fee) for 500 megs which seems pretty standard since both bell and rogers have the same price/bandwidth scale.

haven't looked recently, but the only serious plans I had seen before are around the $75 a month range, I'm paying $80 or so for my old unlimited plan

Ah, well I don't need anything like that. It would only be used occaisionally.

LOL quoted 1 year plan and $25 for the rocket stick, free on a 2yr plan though.
Just waiting on a answer if the stick has the same IP all the time or changes to where you go.

Holy shit.. I'm glad I don't live in the US. I get 5mbps wireless 3G, "unlimited" transfer for under $30/mo. With 2 SIM cards, so I can 'share' the 5mbps between my internet stick and my Nokia N97..
                            ..and I'm off.

Well those are canadian rates. americans probably get a better deal.

actually it's not much better in the u.s. right now either, all the unlimited bandwidth deals got limited

cell phone rates themselves are way cheaper in the u.s. though, canada is still getting ripped on that coverage when you can go to metropcs in many u.s. cities and get unlimited talk time all the time for $40 a month and longdistance for 2cents a minute

So prices aside, is there any difference between connections? I assume they all use the same towers so coverage areas must be pretty similar.

I have a Bell stick for my Netbook. They have a good flex plan that'll cover you up to 8 gigs of bandwidth per month. Speeds are usually pretty good. I can download at 50-60k most of the time while in 5 bar territory. I've been all over Alberta, even way out in the boonies and still get a connection. My bills never come in higher than about $80/month. I burn off a good 5gb on my stick a month.

I looked over Telus's plan and chose Bell in the end. I'm happy thus far.

Cool, thanks JewCat. After checking it out i think Bell has the best thing currently going. They even have a teathering plan where you can share the bandwidth with your blackberry. Though I think im going to go for the stick anyhow as its only an extra 25 bucks a month and apparently faster than teathering.
