I think I can probably do twice the work I do now but the problem is directory submitting. You can only submit one blog a day to the good directories and they track by ip. If you ever get caught cheating them they will remove all your blogs and ban you.

Mike, sorry to say but since seeing this thread, and watching your posting habits, I think the first step is you need to be posting a lot less on the boards and spending that time on your sites.

I can see a few instances in this thread where you have been offered some help from people I know are absolutely rock solid, but you seem to have pretty much just ignored their advice or glossed over them.

And let me just say... by and large directory submitting is a mug's game. Exchanging a front page quality root domain link for page12345678 half way down the 50 links ... unless you are going to stick to free hosts (which I STRONGLY advise against), you need to start building real backlinks to your sites. Directories are the lowest of the low when it comes to building bl's to your blogs, use them if you have nothing else.

Still interesting thread. When are you planning to update your stats next time, Mike?

not trying to be a dick but think about how much the free hosting all your blogs are on your making $$$... im sure its more then hosting would cost u a month.... this is a biz if your in it to make money its going to cost you something 2c

Most of the most sucessful people I know in this biz have thousands of freehosted blogs. As long as you avoid the ones that have more than one text link on them I don't see the problem. I've tested my own traffic on my own blogs before and the click through rate on most AFF text adds is only %1-%3

what happens when that free host has made enough and shuts down or sells to someone that redirects all the blogs? your broke... think about it man peeps are trying to help u here

I'm probably stating something that you're already well aware of, but using pps at streamray/cams.com would've made you a hell of a lot more. I'm not 100% sure how their pay scale works pps vs recurring, but even 2 premium sales at $75 per would have made you more. 40 premium sales is what? $4,000?

Like thurbs said in his most excellent post, go pps until you get some working capital.

Those free host links are costing you money. If those links are unrelated to your blog's content, they are creating confusion - with your surfers and with SE's. Free hosts can be - and often are - shut down on a whim. Then your $1,400 magically turns into $0 real fast.

Lose the free hosts. Seriously. Take 10% of your income, get a dedicated server, make a few quality sites, use your existing free hosteds to feed those sites. Your free hosted links to sponsors WILL disappear one day. Better to funnel the traffic to sites that you control.

I appreciate your honesty in posting your stats, but you will never have real, sustainable success until you have control over your own sites. Right now your livelihood is at the mercy of a person you've never met.

That, to me, is terrifying.

All it takes to have free hosting vanish is one too many nasty support requests or bitch and moan emails. Don't like free? Want to complain? How do you like none? Buh-bye.

You don't even have to do the complaining. Maybe someone else bitched often enough - or hacked the server - and the freehost admin thinks "fuck this" and shuts the whole thing down. Regardless, your work is now gone.

One day you will wake up and all of those free sites will either be gone, or be butchered beyond recognition. The chance of this happening is 100%.

I did the same thing. I had a small freehost (didn't allow tgp or link site submissions) and some asshat thought it would be a good idea to constantly bitch. Then the POS thought it would be a good idea to hack the server. Then EVERYONE bitched.

I shut them all off. Took me about ten seconds to destroy about 100 people's work. 90% of the sites had no traffic to speak of, but still...

Having some ethics, I didn't steal or redirect their surfers. I posted a plain white page that said "So long and thanks for all the fish". Then I let the domain expire.

THAT was a stupid thing to do.

none for his blogs. I have another set of hosted blogs I use from another guy and I submit to his directories. I don't get carried away with the directory submissions. They are mostly to get listed for SE traffic.
