as someone who has spent an inordinate amount of time in the gym, you talk about the "meat market atmosphere" and you ignore that the majority of women are there for that exact reason... to look and to be looked at.

women don't NEED to have skin tight shorts and a tight tube top, a belly button piercing, have their hair done up etc to workout.

you can just as easily lift a weight or do a sit up wearing a baggy sweat shirt and unflattering sweat pants.

I wear a sweatsuit to the gym and even after walking in and out with my Ipod in my ears I have now ended up in the small unventilated "womens gym" inside the huge main gym I pay for in order to get a work out in uninterrupted. There may be a few different kinds of women at the gym but there is one kind of man there and "he" always feels I am on the treadmill waiting for him to stand right next to me and make idle chit chat while he watches my breasts.

- Wear shitty, unrevealing clothes.
- Don't do your makeup.
- Don't comb your hair.
- If you have stubble somewhere, leave it.
- Skip a shower or two before going to the gym.
- Eat pistachios, broccoli and hot wings the night before so you have disgusting gas and can rip deadly farts whenever an evil man approaches to talk to you.

Or simply wear headphones and ignore everything around you. I can even do this without wearing headphones, but I'm a guy so it might be more difficult for women. Who knows. If you're actually at the gym to work out, there shouldn't be a time when a guy would feel it's okay to approach you, especially if you look like shit.

I have a boyfriend and I go to a yoga studio which I suppose is a type of gym. I don't wear makeup and I'm not really there to impress. It's a small studio and there are only about 10-15 people in a class, mostly women unless it's power yoga- and I really hate power yoga and have never been to a power yoga class. It's one of the only exercises I actually enjoy, otherwise I'd be the 4) lazy elliptical type. I hate gyms.

i work out at an exclusive gym in la and u bet 99% of the females there only work out there bc they think they will meet their meal ticket fucking stupid bc we laugh about em
