    Mobile Porn Question

    if anybody remembers we (Yankscash.com) did a little foray into the mobile porn biz three years ago or so via our Pocketnetwork. We actually had some technology that is just being reintroduced now, lol.

    However how is the billing situation changed? Since apple won't bill for adult, and unless you are on the deck in Europe or Japan it's still pretty tough, just where are the $$s coming from.

    I am not claiming sour grapes, really just curious. We quit the Mobile porn biz back then because the situation at the time was impossible being as the US cell companies were making so much loot with text messaging packages they had no taste for the risk that was adult. Now with the iphone there is hope, buuutttt... is it a game changer, I am still a little skeptical.

          I'm not hyping it, but I see the stats for our mobile sites and from that I can say that MANY people are actually buying and watching porn on their cells. Have you actually tried to promote mobile sites? Just because you wouldn't buy porn on your cell it doesn't mean that other people don't or won't. If it didn't sell do you actually think that any company would continue with their mobile sites? I'm pretty sure that they would drop the whole idea since it would be a waste of time and money.

          Why would any company, us included, want any webmasters promoting mobile sites that do nothing in terms of sales and all they do is use up bandwidth? In the long run all webmasters would say "fuck this" and stop promoting any mobile sites. So believe me, there are many cell users that do what you think no one does and the webmasters selling it are making some good $ while the others are just letting their mobile traffic slip away.

                              We're all in this to make money so why ignore all the mobile traffic? Whether someone thinks that no one buys porn on their cells or not doesn't make a difference in the #'s that we see. Hell, even a blog I put up a couple weeks ago gets mobile traffic. Not much, but I haven't done anything in terms of getting traffic to it. Nevertheless, I still added our mobile redirection script and also in the process of having a whitelabel set up for the domain that the blog is on.

                              Why would I just let the mobile traffic drift away and not make any $ off of it? It's all about money and we provide a service for that traffic so webmasters can actually make $ from it. With the amount of cells sold in the world do you think that the traffic won't grow? It WILL grow and people WILL make more and more $. Even if you think that people don't buy porn on the cells and it's pointless why not actually try to profit from it? Even non-believers can make $ from this.

                              I know I wouldn't be here or anywhere else telling people that they should promote mobile sites if I knew it didn't make any $. That would be pointless for both me and the webmaster(s).

                                      from what ive seen, its NOT traditional membership sites that sell, but rather "tube like" video sites that do well.

                                      my brothers friend just got an iPhone and told me he joined a porn site before he downloaded an app

                                      I asked him why he would pay for porn on his cell phone and he said he didnt want to download videos from a site then have to use iTunes in fear they will have a virus attached and 2... "you never know when you are going to need to rub one out"

                                          1. coming from CIVMatt, who seems to be coming from a surfers point of view of the feasibility of actually using a mobile adult product. A great point and one that I am really STILL on the fence with

                                          2. a bunch of people pushing mobile solutions, no disrespect I was there, however let's see some digits, ratios and dollars on that one. Like I said I was there, potential and $4 gets you a coffee at starbucks right.

                                          3. bossku69's story of someone he knew, which is def peaked my interest. How old is your bros friend btw? that might be the key to mobile and when it really might hit.

You may not think that people would buy porn on their mobile devices, but the stats that I see tell a very different story.                                                               A couple of things about mobile ... trial to convert is higher, 57% or higher. Retention is better, people need mobile friendly sites and there aren't that many. Less credits and CBs. Even with xsales, we see that most un-check one, so they are definitely seeing them and the Credits and CBs on xsales is much lower.

                                                              Conversions are better too, should see less than 1:300. If you are getting too high of conversions, check your Google Analytic stats to ensure you aren't sending Windows or "Not Set" Traffic to the mobile sites.

                                                                  Of course mobile porn market is not as huge as PC porn market, but I like the nice extra brought to me by converting mobile traffic from my TGPs through the white labels I got from TopBucks

                                                                                  The thing I still can't grasp about mobile porn is, am I supposed to devote domain, sub domain, etc. to it? How am I supposed to SEO optimize it? If I'm already getting hits on standard sites, what's the difference.

                                                                                  I can't really see risking cutting into my standard promotions in any way shape or form to push something experimental (any more than I can see wasting time pushing sponsors that don't convert in place of ones you are confident with), but maybe that's cause I can't grasp the process yet though.

                                                                                  Your mobile sites look pretty sharp though. Wish I just had a clue what to do with them. All I can think of is tossing up links to them in side bars of standard blogs, but don't see that working much as I've tried it with a few other sponsors.

You can just implement a mobile detection script (which we provide) and when mobile surfers come in through their phone they will be given the option to go a mobile friendly site. This also doesn't cut into any regular promotions as these surfers probably wouldn't have gone to the paysites you promote. Regular sites just don't look good on mobile and people don't join.

                                                                                              Hey, I see your script now. If I pop that in the headers will it redirect to pinkvisual? Also do I change the regular url to mine from google (obviously I add my code)? The php code should work in wordpress headers, right?

                                                                                              I actually want to make subdomains and get subdomain redirect codes so I can redirect niche specific, but this will do for now for a test (unless you have niche specific codes).

                                                                                              P.S. I'm going to test it with my own phone, but it's not an iphone. Will that still work?

                                                                                                              For my blogs using wordpress I'm just using the redirect code and seems to work perfectly. I just added the code into the Header file of the template editor.

We quit the Mobile porn biz back then because the situation at the time was impossible being as the US cell companies were making so much loot with text messaging packages they had no taste for the risk that was adult. Now with the iphone there is hope, buuutttt... is it a game changer, I am still a little skeptical.
