Ah fucking come on people. First off Guillain-Barre syndrome is not that rare. About 1 in 1 million people catch it out of the blue. I was first diagnosed with it when I became paralyzed, though that was wrong.

He also had symptoms within hours of the shot - I.E. Shot had nothing to do with it and someones mother just freaked the fuck out and wanted to blame something. Plus if ANYONE gets even a sniffle after getting the vaccine it will ALWAYS be the vaccine thanks to all of the piss poor bad information polluting the world via the internet and some TV.

This is the same sort of shit that destroyed Dow Chemical (think that was them) when women and lawyers swore up and down that their boobs were getting them sick. They won the suits due to fear, destroyed a great company, and all on junk science that was proven wrong in the future.

But i will tell you this much. I am 33 in very good health and have no medical issues. The chances of me getting the h1n1 and dieing from it are probably less than me getting some side affect from the shot. I am not in the high risk bracket for H1N1 so I won't take the chance even if it is 1 in a million. Now if i had medical conditions, were young or real old, or anything that put me into a high risk of death if catching the h1n1 then I would take it.

my math may be very wrong. I just know the odds of catching GBS is one in one hundred thousand. I know that they have given out over 40 million h1n1 vaccine shots. I also know they are the first reported case of someone getting a h1n1 shot and reporting to have got GBS.

Normally my math would be good. I am heavily drugged right now in the hospital. I jhad to get a bone scane about around 4pm which was painful. They are still working on pain control with me which is a work in progress right now in the hospital. Then to top it off I have not really had any decent sleep since the night I left which was friday.

Well as a FYI I went from a super healthy kid who had not even had much more than a sniffle up until age 11 then within a very short time like overnight I was screaming in agonizing pain. Within 8 days I was then paralyzed and pronounced to have GBS (which was wrong).

Going from healthy to instantly sick happens all of the time. I mean you have watched the introductions to the show house right? They are pretty close. Hell my aunt went from super healthy 30 year old with twin daughters and a twin herself to dead in the matter of about 60 seconds. My other aunt is still alive and raising my deceased aunts kids. She was taken out by an aneurysm in her brain that burst. Her identical twin sister did not have one. That is just how shit works.

Hearing about your medical condition the last couple days... thats rough. To have something just happen out of no where, no warning, not a result of something you did wrong.... I think a lot of us here (myself included) who are healthy take our health for granted. I can't imagine what your average day is like and how much harder it must be compared to the average person.

You do know that most places are giving out the vaccine for free right? Even then the pricing for flu vaccines has been pretty fixed at the consumer level via cash, insurance, co pay, etc.

If someone engineered this whole thing also would of needed to time travel to have got some people sick in the past. Or I can give you that they could of brought back a past virus (brought back meaning like unfroze). However due to shortages, they could of made even more money having enough doses available day 1. Keep in mind there is a short window to use it. Plus even without shortages they would of sold out due to demand. They never have enough vaccine each year, even of the regular type.

This vaccine is being done in the same way the standard flu vaccine is made each year. Every year a new batch is needed to make the vaccine based on which flu they think will be a problem that year. In a way non of the flu vaccines are really tested much.

It is NOT a mass killer. It does have the ability to species jump and has already jumped. If people understood what that really means then they may understand some of the reasoning behind the medical field wanting people to get vaccinated. They are in a damned if they do, damned if they dont situation though.

Just like how the media is scaring people and causing some hysteria and over reacting. The internet is also fueling tons of bad information. They are stuck in the middle. Now if this virus did species jump again and altered some which it could and we ended up with another version of the 1918 flu. Then what would people be saying if people were not encouraged to get vaccinated? We both know we would have public killings and mass chaos.

Please keep in mind again. I do not think everyone should get vaccinated. I think only the sick, those who work around the sick or children, pregnant women, and children should be getting vaccinated. Then others can get it or not if they feel they are at risk. Nobody should be forced to get it (some should be - work around sick of kids). Pretty much self choice. If someone does not want it for their family so be it. As long as they do not work around at risk people.

It has effected people who have gotten the seasonal flu shot as well so the 'not tested' theory is total bullshit. Its just one of the risks associated with the flu vaccine. It really has nothing to do at all with the swine flu vaccine.

For the record.... any batch of flu vaccines can be deadly, tainted if you would.. and they do not know about it until the doses go out and they do not know why or how it happens - and it's 'per batch.'

Even though it has been 30 years from the last time a batch did this... it can happen, and they do not know about it until it's to late.

No, it wouldn't. The 1918 Spanish Flu was extremely deadly because it provoked an exaggerated immune response (a cytokine storm, to be exact), which was what ended up killing people. That's why the victims were mostly young, healthy people with great immune systems - the better your immune system, the more damage it could do to you.

The current strain of H1N1 does not provoke a similar immune response, and is therefore far less dangerous. It's most dangerous for people with weakened immune systems, and poses a rather small but real risk for healthy individuals.

The problem with the flu, however, is that it mutates rapidly. There's a very, very small chance that the current strain of H1N1 will mutate in a way that creates an effect similar to the one the 1918 Spanish Flu had. If that happens, it will do quite a bit of damage.

Yep, people are dumb. These same risks have been associated with the flu vaccine in general forever. It it is no unique to the swine flu vaccine at all.

If you're a healthy person with a normal immune system you shouldn't get the shot. Just take your Vitamin C and D , eat and sleep right you should be fine and not get sick. If you get sick stay away from people and get plenty of rest and you should be fine. This advice comes straight from a doctors mouth..

and if you did get the flu you are not likely to die from it unless you are real young, real old, have existing medical conditions etc... so even if you did get it, so what just a bad cold for a couple days. If you removed the young/old and people with existing medical conditions from the total of people who died from h1n1 I bet there would be very very few people left on the list.
