                                          Actually I am not a huge fan of Franken. I think he has said some funny stuff in the past, but he comes off as smug and I find him kind of annoying. When I heard he was running for Senate I figured he had no chance in hell, but his win really shows what poor shape the republican party is in in many parts of the country.

                                          I have no idea about where he stands politically, but I can't stand Rush Limbaugh so I find humor in this whole thing knowing he must be turning himself inside out.

                                                                                  I guess I thought the way I do because when he first started to run there was a lot of talk about how people wouldn't vote for him because he was being perceived as a guy from there who left and only came back because he felt he could convince them to vote for them.

                                                                                  But I guess in politics you never know what is going to happen.

Reagan was a douche who committed treason and let his lackeys fall on his sword for it. Schwartzenegger has run California straight into bankruptcy.

                                                                                                          In Arnie's defense, California's fucked up ballot initiative system and other things are the reason the state is bankrupt.

                                                                                                          I'm not big on being a republican apologist, but in Arnie's case he doesn't deserve (all) the blame.

                                                                                                          I think if anything the current situation is a vindication for Gray Davis. California is pretty much ungovernable.
                                                                                                          Unless property tax laws are changed, or until you can raise taxes with a simple majority in the legislature, California is going to continue to be fucked.

I have lived here most of my life and Prop 13 was passed because of seniors were losing their houses because they could not pay the property taxes.

                                                                                                                  Hell no, if they can't get a 2/3rds vote then they should not be able to pass anything. They can't stop spending money and this is the reason. They have spent way to much money on nothing.
