Looking For Work (Pt. II)

This second thread was moreso to vent about how frustrated I am with the flakes in this business. If you added up all the time I wasted working out negotiations with people who want to partner up on a big project who eventually flaked out last minute, I would have probably wasted a good couple months.

Most of these people have an existing network and are trying to breakthrough. I can definitely see why most people in this business haven't actually succeeded, unless you call making this a full time job a success.

If anybody is serious about starting up an affiliate program/network of paysites and needs somebody who is able to handle CMS/Affiliate Management/Marketing/Traffic. Let me know. I don't want people with a small budget who are watching every penny they spend who are going to jump ship as soon as they don't make everything back in their first month.

I eventually would like to add to the network down the road and possibly set up a studio out here in Vancouver and get some models together after the network gets off its feet. For twice the firepower.

Mainly i'm looking for a photographer with a bit of experience and already has the girls lined up and some content, and hopefully some designs and some paysites already up.

PLEASE DONT START TALKING BUSINESS TO ME UNLESS YOU ARE SERIOUS.

Im actually quite surprised. Alot of them actually went out of there way to contact me and try to sell me and then when I agree it's a project that could do well. They are nowhere to be seen. haha

I have actually negotiated with people until im about to start actually working, like after a week of speaking back and forth so that we are on the same page with everything... I have got to that point probably 8-10 times. Its mentally exhausting

I'd have no problem if was because of money related issues. However I honestly believe all but one were not money related. just people with no drive whatsoever

you're asking for quite a bit for not telling anyone what your track record or capabilities is. anyone who would be worth hiring should already have a ton of their own traffic.

Well my capabilities are being able to manage a paysite network and affiliate program and a successful one at that. If somebody is interested or looking, they can contact me and I can tell them my qualifications. Plus I told them a bit about my experience in the past thread. However I don't plan on selling myself by this thread alone

Anyone worth hiring should have a ton of their own traffic? How so? I am a manger/traffic guru.. not a photographer. I can't get my own content. Well I could if I wanted to be like every other average joe trying to make a few extra bucks, i could just go and buy some

I had over a million visitors daily at one time throughout my entire tgp/mgp network. But I try to leave that out of threads because the last thread I told them my experience, they kept offering me more tgp/mgp managing positions. lol because they didn't read the whole thing thoroughly

There was a photographer looking for someone to run their affiliate program that posted here a few days ago, just dig around the posts.

I talked to him. lol

Talked about the costs to do what he wanted to do. For example, software (CMS, Affiliate Software), he said hes got to think about stuff. lol and haven't heard from him since.

He thought he was ready. lol

Lets look at things from the other persons point of view

There is no doubt you have serious experience but did you ever stop and think how many times a month programmer owners get their hopes up just to learn that once again the person they hired either

a) dont have the skills

b) has the skills but just doesnt want to do shit

c) has the skills wants to do stuff but moves slow as fuck

Program owners get fucked with more than people looking for work get fucked with, regardless what money we throw on people some just dont deliver, this is not just in adult but everywhere.

So yeah we have fear of saying ok go ahead, fear of finding out that once again we got taken, not money wise because most of us dont give a fuck about that but rather the time and quality thing.

Right now its a face moving world, waiting on anyone will = the end of their company very rapidly, I learned that years ago and in these days I am determined to eliminate every person that I feel keeps me for moving at a rapid speed to expand or start a venture.

I completely agree and understand. Dont worry, this wasn't at all directed at you, I know your drive is there. You responded to me and explained. Completely fair

But I believe in some sort of partnership, I don't see how some people could go wrong. If they do squat for you, they aren't seeing a penny. I mean, there's ways of being careful.

And I see how many networks just riding on what they have had in the past are only going to decline and they are still hesitant to get help. At that point, I dont believe alot of them have much to lose. An experienced webmaster isn't going to go in there and make things that much worse. I think once people get the idea of giving up, it's done for.

Again, not speaking about you or your network, but you can understand where the frustration is coming from. I see so many networks that would thrive having somebody with my experience. Noone is doing anything in these times and I think a company that has a good plan, will succeed whether sales are down or not.

I feel your pain...only because I think I've dealt with some of the types of people you're talking about, over the last few years; mainly photogs all excited about shooting for me. We spend several hours on the phone or icq talking about everything involved, all the specs, pricing, samples....and then they disappear. One thing I'll never understand about this biz is the lack of common courtesy from so many people; it's not hard to just either say "no" up front, or even later on.....without disappearing or even worse, ducking you.
Best of luck with your search.

Honestly most sponsors are too broke to be opening new sites. Maybe if you showed them your traffic generation methods like doing TGP management positions, you'd have a better chance of moving into better deals after they have seen you make them money.

I'm looking at starting on a new affiliate program actually. Sending traffic to them wouldn't do anything if they don't have other areas going well either. That's like feeding a TGP/MGP with less than 200% productivity. Waste of time. You have to have good content (exclusive), good design/tours, daily updates, good marketing tools, and many of the thousand things that alot of affiliate programs lack. That's what I am looking to do. Dealing with traffic is the last step and not the only job I am looking to do.

And after making a thread regarding how many flakey people are in this business, you're telling me I should start spending alot of my time marketing and sending people business, traffic, etc. LOL

Also on top of that, if I sent traffic to a network without having managed and created it myself, then I wouldn't exactly be 100 percent confident in it anyway. Considering if I was going for an affiliate managing position, that would mean they need help. So that means it's a network that lacks. Now if I started to promote and use my connections to promote this, how does that look on me? I only promote stuff I believe in or have had a hand in making.

lol I dont even need to respond to this but whatever ;)

Sales and the economy are lower than usual but the biz isn't dead. lol it will never be and theres always room for good ideas in any business. all it did was weave out the amateurs like yourself and the people that lost motivation and have been riding off of a good market.

Personally I think right now is a great time. Things are only up from here. Just will have to work a little harder at the beginning, that is all.
