i've been there twice, last year for 6 months, this year for 9 weeks (just got back 3 weeks ago). that also includes some Cambodia, and quite a bit of time in Laos (both recommended if you have time, especially Laos). what type of experience are you looking for?

Pattaya = More whores per square inch than almost any place on the globe. GoGo bars, beer bars, freestylers, discos. Round the clock party town. If you are all weak of mind or can't control yourself when you drink (or if you like to fight) then THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO GO. It's an ocean city but the beaches suck.

Phuket = Soi Bangla (Beer Bars, some GoGos, Discos). Nice beaches and more chill.

Chiang Mai = Northern city, relaxing. There are girls there but nothing special.
