I woke up to the Monkees and Crosby, Stills and Nash

I love the Hard Rock in Vegas. The picture over my bed is of the Monkees in a dressing room with Jack Nicholson. Davey Jones is wearing tight, white pants and Peter Tork is shirtless.

The one next to it is of a very young Crosby, Stills and Nash on a redneck front porch couch. For some reason that one is just not as hot.

i was an insane Monkees fan as a kid - i was only 4 or 5 years old and I heard that song and begged my mom to buy it for me, so after a doctor's appointment downtown we passed the only record store in town and we went in. I remember telling the owner I wanted the Monkees song, he asked me which one, what was the name. I said 'Sleepy Jean!' - i had no idea what the name of it was other than Sleepy Jean, so the owner said 'sing it', i was shy but sang that chorus - and he went and got me Daydream Believer

their music is way underrated - the best bubblegum pop songwriters wrote for the Monkees - Neil Diamond, Carole King, Boyce and Hart and others. and the TV show looking back was really breakthrough - 10-15 years before MTV and music videos they were doing them.
