    Affordable alternatives to Dreamweaver?

Why they don't release an affordable 'lite' version, I don't know. Anyway, does anybody have any affordable (or free..will always take free..lol) alternatives to Dreamweaver. Not Frontpage and they need to have splitview coding. I don't know why but I just can't work comfortably without seeing both.

Computer arts mag always used to include an older version on their cover cd.
Usually 2 behind whats in current. Not sure if they still do as I can't get the uk version of the mag here anymore, as they now make a Spanish one. But pop down the local whsmiths and have a look.

After being a contractor for 15 years, I feel that $400 bucks is a extremely cheap price for a 'must have' tool.

I wouldn't screw 500 screws a day with a $12 screwdriver because the drill cost $250. I'd buy the drill and screw 1500.

                        Just my take.

Yeah, I fully admit I suck on this level. I really should take a class just to upgrade my skills but finding the time. I can do basics great but got stuck in the 'well, it works for me' level.

Aptana studio is free, there is a pay upgrade...but not needed.

You can customize the view to your heart's content. It integrates ftp and has all the php, css, and other support you need to maintain a website.

                                                      i really like expression web
for me it does everything that dreamweaver does but since it supports importing xml namespaces the auto complete will work with all name space complient syntaxes
                                                      ie silverlight, ria, javafx etc

I wouldn't screw 500 screws a day with a $12 screwdriver because the drill cost $250. I'd buy the drill and screw 1500.
