Nothing wrong with asking it here. Some people will just never be able to sing, but if you have a moderately decent voice a proper voice coach and make you get a firm grasp on breathing techniques, how to understand tone and pitch, how to find your voice etc etc. I study with someone that was an academy of country music artist of the year in the late 80's and she is excellent. Im going more for performance type stuff. How to connect to an audience better, poise, breathing, etc etc. Has helped me vastly. I took 6 years off from performing, and just started this year getting back to it. When I performed before it wasn't in Nashville that often, it was other venues across the country and we were a full band, so takes a bit to get out there with a piano or guitar by yourself in front of an audience and really feel comfortable. If it wasn't Nashville I wouldn't care nearly as much, but frankly there is just so much unbelievable talent in this town I started going out for lessons. I pay 100.00 an hour for mine, but depending on where you are you can figure on 35 to 100.00 an hour. Hope this helps.

practice running through scales and record yourself and check the tones to see if you are in tune

people think too abstractly about it...... remember, your voice is just an instrument, just as a guitar or piano or any other instrument, either you are in tune or you are not, that is the number one most important thing, everything else is a matter of personal style and sound, but the ability to stay in tune over your octave range is the number one most important thing (and of course some people are gifted with a larger range than others)

What sticky said. Although I'd only suggest it if you've got something to work with. You're not generally going to go from tone deaf american idol joke to decent even with lessons, but if you can vaguely hold a tune, just that it's nowhere near good enough to get on stage, then it's definitely worth it. I've started lessons several times on and off over the years but I do a decent amount of home recording so have trained myself to a certain level that is acceptable for what i'm doing. So whilst I'm not good in a professional sense I'm ok enough that my latest stab at it has my teacher coming over for jamming and songwriting sessions after about 2 months instead of lessons.

here is why i was asking, i had learned to play guitar over the years, wanted to sing the lyrics to the songs and recently, for the hell of it, i got some powered speakers and a microphone. over the weekend i found out that amplification does not help a voice, so before just giving it up, thought i would ask the good people of gfy if you can alter, change it. some good information here

the voice is its own music instrument, you have to think of it that way, can you make the right notes is the real question

Certain songs seems easier to play on guitar if I sing at the same time. Sounds counter-intuitive, but the chord progressions flow better for me. Anyway, I taped myself singing Hotel California one day, and it was ear-opening experience, and not in a good way.

Singing is no joke. You either have it, or you don't.

You actually paid money to learn to sing this badly?!?

The end of that video is your typical melodramatic, self-delusional, and self-indulgent excuse making, for why you suck so much (as if you had any real talent to begin with).

I'm guessing you won't name your award winning vocal teacher, since she might have to quit the music biz if people learned that this was all that she could do with you.

How the song should actually sound.

Seriously dude, at the very least, buy yourself a metronome, and learn to play and sing in time (Music 101). You're a total hack!!!

You've claimed several times to have toured for years with a band, so since that should be easily verifiable, let us know just what band it was, because with your weak voice and sloppy playing techniques, it's pretty unlikely that you could even sing at an open microphone karaoke bar, unless they had industrial strength reverb, let alone with a professional band of musicians that made their primary living from their music.

Or better yet, show us any album that you played on, which lists you in the credits...

<crickets>

BTW. why is it that your YouTube site is called 1songAday?

You started it February 18th, but have only posted 13 songs (all badly done covers) - it's been over 100 days already.

Same old BS. No wonder you take ADD drugs...you really can't stick with anything, Stickyfingerz - not your wife, not your GF, not your...well, everyone gets the idea!

I wouldn't have bothered posting about this, but it proves once again what a sham you are in practically every aspect of your life, and how seriously delusional you are about your skills and talent.

The end of his videos is always priceless - what a shill...
