Actually, that's kind of funny you should say that.
About a year and a half ago, while I was training for last year's Pan Ams, we had a Judo black belt from Japan training with us for a few months. I used to try and train take downs with him as much as possible for obvious reasons. Anyway, one day he threw me and I landed on my side with my belt knot right over my kidney. Big round bruise looked like the marbling on beef, perfect circle over my kidney.
Anyway, next day I start pissing blood and it fucking hurts. So I hit up the Doctor and point out the bruise plus tell him what happened. First thing he says is it's for sure an STD and I have to get tested for that. I again show him the bruise and ask if maybe that could be the problem? Nope, he insures me this kind of thing is almost always an STD. So off I go for testing. Totally clean of course. A week later the Doctor tells me it's probably some sort of trama to my Kidney. Gee, you think?.Comment

In the late '90's, when I was still living in Dayton, Ohio, I used to take regular 3+ hour weekend trips to Coldwater, Michigan to train at Dan Severn's pro wrestling and MMA camp. This was before there was an MMA school on every corner like there is now, so there really weren't any other options if you were interested in MMA.
Anyways, Dan Severn was rarely ever there, and his head trainer was Becky Levi, who is also a Judo black belt that was a National champ and just an all around athlete. I'm 6'3" and Becky was only a few inches shorter than me but very muscular and thick, and she used to toss me around like I was a half full sack of groceries. I would come back to Dayton every Monday limping around and walking like I was the victim of a prison rape. Those were the days...Comment
