So I setup an iPhone game dev operation. Looking for a partner.
Finally got all the things together and am now shifting my business to iPhone game/app development and keeping fingers crossed for "good" announcements at MacWorld.
The situation is that I found a small loophole in the app store (with the help of another game studio) that results in a very simple app getting a strong $1k per month. This type of app costs ~$800 to develop (within my operation, the 'other' studio has a lot higher expenses). What I want to do right now is develop 10 of these loophole exploiting apps and establish a cashflow and then move on to more risky, yet a lot more rewarding apps. OR get a partner to help finance the development of the 10 apps simultaneously, do some serious viral marketing for those 10 apps and thus increase the cashflow several times and then move on to developing several higher risk projects, thus increasing the chances for success. Before the common GFY flames start, I want to say that one app is already being developed and I'll do this one way or another. But with financial help from a partner I will be able to multiply the revenues in a shorter timeframe. The partner will get equity in the LLC and half of the net revenues from the App Store payments. How long has your app been available? Are you currently in a partnership with another game studio?

Of course there is a certain amount of trust involved, but the way these kind of things work is with an actual meeting, actual signed papers (on equity, revshare, etc). I'm currently in the EU, but I will be relocating to the US, so US partners welcome. Will answer all e-mails shortly. |

Please re-read my initial post. I can and will finance it, but I cannot finance all of the 10 loophole apps simultaneously, as well as several higher-risk projects. As I said, the more higher-risk projects we put out at the same time, the bigger the chance to make it big.

Ok, I'm getting a lot of questions like "wtf, risk, WHERE?"
'Risk' here is not the risk of losing money, it's about the latter projects that don't exploit the loophole. For example, right now I am sure what investment is required for the loophole apps and I know how much money I will get out of it. That is next to no risk. But with the "brave" controversial game designs I have planned I am not sure what the return will be, but I am aiming for the success which one of the developers I know had, which is $100k in the first month. Yes, it's a long shot, and one way or the other each app will get it's investment back, I am just aiming REALLY high, that's why I call it risk. |

Iphone development is certainly a hot market right now. Developers are in huge demand and most of them won't work for others because with the app store they'd rather just capitalize on their own work.
I've considered brushing up on my objective C and playing with the dev kit myself. Haven't had anywhere near the time though and honestly my C isn't the greatest.

I've worked in a big corporate environment as a creative guy, and honestly, most programmers I've seen seriously lack the creativity/imagination it takes to develop something truly amazing. Waiting for more e-mails, I think I answered all of them so far. |

Good luck sounds a great project
The market for iphone & smartphone games/adult and apps is the future and this statistic i just posted in another thread should boost your chances of success... "51 percent of USA mobile users now access the net using thier mobile phones for games social networking etc " ...and that figure is rising rapid

While the stats is true, the iPhone is the first platform to somewhat standardize the development, if that makes any sense. Even Sony is now persuading developers to develop more casual and easier to pick up games for their PSP platform. I expect other "App Stores" to emerge (Google Android looks promising) - that said, the developers I have will be creating software while keeping in mind future ports to other platforms. Too bad Symbian didn't think of this like 5 years ago, there were so many great apps for it at the time, yet you had to be a geek to be able to set them up. |

I was talking about something similar with my brother last night, however with the over saturated iphone market, we were thinking of developing some applications for windows mobile phones.
(not to hijack the thread) I know iphone is amazing huge right now, but does anyone know where windows mobile phones stack up to them and what type of market there is for it? |

That said, I also did look at the Windows Mobile platform and frankly, you're better off getting into Android. Windows Mobile isn't standardized with an app store, which sucks. Also, Nokia recently launched their version of the app store and they have a huge market. That is also something to think of. Either way, each app I will developer will be easily portable to any other platform. |

Btw, these applications you write for the iphone, how involved are they? I'd love to write some simple games for phones, I usually have tons of game ideas I just have to sit down and figure out the actual gameplay lol

You're better off googling the top apps on the app store, it will give you an idea of how simple the apps are

as soon as you submit your app for approval, apple will recognize this 'exploit' of the 'loop hole' and shut it down immediately. Or are you saying that other studios are already using this exploit?
