Question On Selling Movies Pay Per Minute

    Hi,

I just wondered if many people here have had much success selling their homemade movies on the new pay per minute system on Find An Amateur?

I have just setup mine yesterday to sell them on the pay per minute thingie and was curious to how popular this will be as I haven't seen any webgirl movies like these on the big pay per minute sites. They all seem to be more polished studio stuff.

Check my sig to see my pay minute store and they kind of homemade stuff I am hoping to sell this way.

Thanks in advance for any input..

    Janey

I'd wank to that on a tube site.

      Hi,

Hehe thanks for the positive comment but I don't think I would be able to pay the bills for very long that way.

A couple of webgirl friends have given up doing their sites because they don't make enough money to afford to travel around and shoot content since tubes have been around.

I guess the recession didn't help, they probably gave up due to a combination of both.

I just converted some of Jill's vids for this at FAA today. I'm curious also on the response.

Interesting note, while the "standard pricing" for this form of delivery seems to have fallen into the 10 cents/ minute range by the larger companies, I have been selling per minute video viewing for 69 - 99 cents for the last 10 years. Good steady money. I have always thought the per minute industry was priced tooo low.

Oh yeah, heard one of the larger players in this is considering raising prices ...

The problem we've had with PPM, and I don't know whether this is a universal thing, but we find that as we originally recorded our movies for our paysite which uses the traditional subscription model, we tried to make the movies a good 20 minutes long at least. So when using that for PPM it doesn't work.

We put one or two of them up on FAA and another site that was already doing PPM, and we find that people don't watch them all the way through. That might be because they're a bit crap, but I suspect it's more that people don't want to watch a 20 minute movie when they're paying for every minute. So to provide what people want would mean either cutting out most of the movie and just offering the best bit - the climax - or recording short clips especially for PPM. For the money we've made so far, literally loose change, it wouldn't be worth doing either of those. But I'd be interested to hear other people's views and experiences, we may give it another go when we relaunch our paysite.

            Hi guys,

            Thanks for the replies.

I was thinking i should have upped mine from 10cents a min as I see you can set it to more per minute.

I just checked what the others had theirs set to.

Whats the best price per minute you have found to work best?

I have not played much in VOD. Mainly C4S, and that type of per clip, priced on a per minute basis. I have had some good success (sig) with it. It makes sense that SOME would like per minute.

It was nice back in the day when I used to frequent gamelink.

                Hi,

                Thanks again for the replies.

I do find this vod pay per minute stuff exciting as it is all new to me

So far sales have been good but small values.

Maybe it is a numbers game.

There again I have doubled sales in movie downloads.

I assume this is just a coincidence though unless people watch a couple of mins online and decide they want the whole movie to download and keep.

Unless you are offering lots and lots of content, have massive amounts of traffic, and many studios like the big VOD providers who offer pay-per-minute such as AEBN & Gamelink, I think that the pay-per-clip model makes more sense. If you only have a handful of titles like small to medium sized studio or amateur company, you are going to end up with transactions for pennies when surfers watch short segments of your videos, rather than transactions for at least a few dollars to sell downloadable clips one, two or more clips at a time.

I guess it could be a win win as i have my main website URL branded on the movies, so if someone likes me, they will pay the per minute price and hopefully join my main amateur site too to save money overall.

It's another distribution platform to put your brand in front of more eyeballs. If you like their terms and can make it work for you, go for it.

                            Hey Janey :-)

True PPM billing is when the phone companies collect the money from phone subscribers via premium rate numbers - not buy buying minutes via credit card.

Trouble is, this kind of billing (900) sucks in USA It does not even work with cell-phones

But in many countries like UK, it works great : access is granted to your member area is granted for the time that the phone is connected to such a number. The "hold time" speaks volumes about your content

The per-minute tarifs of these premium rate numbers is dicated by any given countries telcos, and not the processors, which is why costs/payouts vary per country.

Remember to shop around : In the case of UK, for example, the surfer pays £1.50/Min., irrespective of the processor you use - but the payouts vary condsiderably:
